Continental Focus in on Service Network

At the 2017 CV Show, Continental were promoting a variety of concepts that included their Continental Vision Zero corporate vision as well as a selection of new tyres and their service offerings. Continental’s Vision Zero, which overlaps between all the divisions within the group, played a major part in their stand at the NEC. The Vision Zero concept has evolved from a zero fatalities, zero injuries and zero accidents target, which the company says has driven its desire to inform and educate drivers on the potential safety benefits of using premium tyres with the correct pressures.
On the service side, Continental were showcasing how they are integrating materials handling as part of the service offering, as well as connecting technology and consolidating networks.
Looking at the service offerings in more detail, the Conti360° Fleet Services package was designed to ensure operators get the most out of their businesses, with a range of services to help reduce operating costs. The comprehensive tyre management programme means operators can access the exact services they need 365 days a year. With a line-up of services including
national breakdown coverage and rapid response times averaging less than an hour, with flexible packages tailored to the needs of the fleet, including tyre management advice. ContiFitmentService helps lower driving costs as customers choose the right new or retreaded tyres whatever the application, to meet exact fleet requirements. With ContiFleetCheck, fleets gain detailed analysis of tyre condition pressure and tread depth, with damage and wear profiling to make the very most out of every tyre. Through ContiBreakdownService, fleets can minimise downtime and get trucks back on the road, when a breakdown takes place, with Continental’s drive-on-time guarantee ensuring incidents are dealt with as quickly as possible. The ContiCasingManagement service covers complete casing handling, collection, inspection, retreading and/or proper disposal. Finally, with ContiFleetReporting, complete analysis of a fleet’s tyre and service related costs can be understood and managed. The reports quickly reveal any need for optimisation and highlight savings potential.
Continental now also offers transport operators a solution to

complete tyre monitoring and reporting, assistance in how to correctly select and fit tyres, regular tyre inspections and fast response in the event of a tyre breakdown.
The Conti360o Fleet Services network is testament to Continental Tyres’ ongoing commitment to provide its truck customers with a nationwide all-round service, and now features over 100 Conti360° Fleet Service network partners across the UK & Ireland, with over 400 service points, 850 mobile service vans and over 300 REACT trained technicians. limiting downtime. The YardReader Station allows fleet managers to monitor tyre pressures automatically, across all vehicles in the yard, adding further accuracy to fleet maintenance and helping to prevent tyre blowouts. The system is the latest addition to the group’s ContiPressureCheck tyre pressure monitoring system, and is due to be rolled out this autumn. The YardReader Station meets the remit of the ContiPressureCheck system, with multiple benefits for fleets, including reduced fuel costs, lower environmental impact and higher safety levels, as well as helping to lower the likelihood of tyre blowouts.
Continental’s new tyre information and management system for commercial fleets, ContiConnect, will be launched to European and global markets during Q3, 2017. ContiConnect monitors, analyses and reports tyre pressure and temperature for the entire fleet based on data collected by the YardReader Station from ContiPressureCheck sensors in the tyres. The system then notifies fleet managers and offers suggested corrective measures where necessary, that could be then actioned immediately by a Conti360° service partner.
An online portal provides transparent reports on the fleet’s tyre performance and overall efficiency. It can work in
the depot, or via a receiver unit in every vehicle on a real-time basis, while on the road. Should the pressure in a tyre reach a critical level, ContiConnect sends an alert to the fleet manager and also the Conti360° service provider if required.
This transparency helps tyres achieve greater mileage, longer durability, and enable greater fuel savings. For the entire fleet this means higher uptime, less maintenance, and overall success in mobility and efficiency.
Mat Wilkinson, Commercial Sales and Marketing Director at Continental Tyres said: “Both the YardReader Station and ContiConnect are welcome additions to the ContiPressureCheck modular system, giving fleets the best quality information to help maximise fleet efficiency and see real bottom-line savings.”
