April 25 - 27th NEC BIRMINGHAM
                                    Air-Seal Goes Green in 2017
Firstly, this has resulted in increased fleet efficiency by avoiding up to 75% of tyre-related breakdowns. Additionally, it has led to reduced total cost of operations by cutting fuel costs up to 300 Euros per vehicle, per month and decreasing tyre maintenance costs by up to 70%. Thirdly, operators have achieved improved carbon footprints by using around 10% less fuel.
The new business offers two families of services to enable smart, safe and sustainable mobility. Proactive Tyre offers a broad range of services including tyre pressure, temperature and tread depth monitoring. These connected and fully automated solutions enable fleets to maximise tyre performance and schedule proactive maintenance. Furthermore, Proactive Fleet includes two additional options, Driver Behaviour and Track & Trace, which help fleets to reduce fuel consumption and
journey times while increasing safety.
“Goodyear Proactive Solutions enhances our role as a key commercial fleet partner by combining the latest digital technologies and data services with our existing fleet support systems and industry-leading TruckForce service network. Our innovative solutions are fully compatible with all commercial truck tyres, allowing every fleet owner the opportunity to benefit from these new connected fleet management solutions,” added André Weisz, Managing Director, Goodyear Proactive Solutions. Goodyear Proactive Solutions is now available in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Further additions to the portfolio of applications are in development for introduction in 2017.
In January 2017, Air-Seal Products launched their new environmentally friendly tyre sealant. It’s the same product that has delivered cost savings to companies through puncture prevention and unnecessary downtime over the previous 17 years, but with the added benefit of being more environmentally friendly. The company was demonstrating this latest development at the CV Show. Air-Seal has historically been always been an eco-friendly product as it making tyres last for longer, to the fact it maintains the correct tyre pressure. This not only aids reductions in fuel costs, it also results in less tyres being scrapped.
However, the product’s

environmental footprint has now been decreased through the usage of propylene instead of ethylene glycol.

Vacu-Lug Rolls Out New Generation Tyre at CV Show
The CV Show saw the UK launch for Goodyear Proactive Solutions. This new business offers a suite of demonstrated Vehicle-To-Fleet operations management solutions featuring advanced telematics and predictive analytics technology. Using intelligent computer algorithms, data derived from Goodyear’s commercial tyre and service business, and clear, accurate reporting, the solutions allow fleet operators to identify and resolve tyre-related and potential safety issues before they happen. It enables fleets to monitor their vehicles and tyres in real time, affording them a competitive advantage whilst helping to increase
their profitability and operate more sustainably in a rapidly changing environment.
“We are witnessing a transformational shift that is reshaping commercial trucking. In a digital economy, consumers and businesses expect deliveries to be faster, cheaper and more flexible, and in response the industry is becoming increasingly connected and automated,” said Michel Rzonzef, Vice-President, Commercial Business, Goodyear Europe, Middle-East and Africa. Goodyear designed and developed its fleet management solutions in partnership with commercial fleet operators over the last two years.
Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres launched the first of a new generation of tyres featuring an enhanced sidewall protection system at the CV Show. The new 245/70R17.5 WZY2 has been manufactured to provide operators with extra protection against kerb wear. The Vacu-Lug team have developed this product with light trucks in mind, designed to provide a practical alternative to traditional solid sidewall protectors, which can have weaknesses within their design if too rigid, and can also have high abrasion rates. Vacu-Lug’s new tyre is designed with additional sidewall protection (ASP) and comprises 5 ribs moulded into the upper sidewall of the tyre. This sidewall protection provides greater flexibility and abrasion resistance to provide the maximum overall protection possible against kerb wear, whilst its design allows heat to dissipate more effectively. The material used to create the sidewall protection is a new compound formulation which is highly cut and tear resistant.
This tyre has all the same tread features as Vacu-Lug’s current and industry-proven WZY2 as the tread pattern has not been scaled down for the smaller 17.5” tyre. Instead, it has deliberately been kept at full scale to give the best overall performance. This deep tread design of the Duramold drive WZY2(16mm in total) additionally allows for enhanced traction and dissipates heat more effectively.
The Vacu-Lug team were also on hand to discuss how their tyre
management system – VMS - can benefit fleet operators throughout the UK. VMS is a bespoke online tyre management system which gives operators access to all transactions, as well as the ability to analyse fleet data in real-time using full tyre usage reports for each item of equipment.
The Vacu-Lug/Westlake stand presented a range of tyres from Vacu-Lug’s premium retread range, including the LD01 drive tyre. In addition to Vacu-Lug’s retread products, visitors to the stand saw a selection of truck tyres on display from Westlake’s latest range, including the WDM1 drive tyre and the WSR1 steer tyre. A Westlake van tyre was also shown on the stand.
