Pets at Home have signed a new tyre maintenance contract with ATS Euromaster, which will see ATS Euromaster handling all aspects of Pets at Home’s tyre management. This follows a comprehensive tyre audit carried out by ATS Euromasteracross the customer’s truck and trailer assets, which identified opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve tyre life, safety and uptime.
The detailed tyre analysis is typical of the ongoing fleet inspections ATS Euromaster carries out for customers, utilising an electronic data capture system to record the condition of every tyre on the fleet. Results are then analysed to measure tyre pressures and brand adherence versus the defined tyre policy, as well
as the percentage of retreads on fleet, remaining tread depths and an analysis of regrooving rates. The report also measures instances of tyre or wheel damage, missing valve caps and broken or missing wheel nut indicators.
Campbell Baxter, Transport Manager, Pets at Home, says: “ATS Euromaster has made it easy for us to manage our tyres. The reporting system it provides allows us to monitor our projected costs and usage on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, giving us complete trust in our service provider. Thanks to ATS Euromaster’s honest approach, we are already seeing a reduction in fleet costs and are confident this trend will continue.”
tyre policy throughout its European fleet, whilst Suckling Transport has fitted Michelin tyres exclusively under a PPK deal since 2008.
   Vacu-Lug Scoops Gains Countrystyle Recycling
 Suckling Renews Effitires Contract
Grantham-based Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres has secured a major new contract with Countrystyle Recycling for the supply and management of tyres for its fleet of vehicles. Countrystyle says it opted for the Vacu-Lug full tyre supply and fleet management solution because it wanted increased visibility and standardisation within a tyre agreement and was impressed by the advanced control and reporting systems that Vacu-Lug offered. The Kent-based company is a leading, privately-owned resource management and recycling company, which is capable of handling, processing, disposing and recycling almost all forms of waste. It operates an extensive commercial waste recyclable collection service in Kent and manages a mixed fleet of vehicles.
The tyres specified by Countrystyle are Vacu-Lug, Pirelli, Formula and Westlake, depending on the vehicle type involved. They are managed through Vacu-Lug’s
advanced tyre fleet management system, VMS, while all fitments and breakdowns are supplied and covered by ATS Euromaster.
Drew Crouch, Group Transport Manager (Compliance) for Countrystyle Recycling, comments:
“As the company has grown, the necessity to have a more structured approach to the tyre procurement in relation to the standardisation and visibility of the products and services fitted has increased. It was decided that the combination of the Vacu-Lug product combined with Vacu-Lug’s fleet management system, with the coverage of ATS Euromaster, and the many benefits that they can offer, will allow Countrystyle to move forward in a more controlled manner.”
Countrystyle’s flagship facility, at Ridham in Sittingbourne, Kent, provides specialist services for the recycling of plasterboard and wood. Other services that Countrystyle provides include in-vessel composting, two waste transfer stations and an extensive commercial waste recyclable collection service providing local authorities and businesses with closed loop waste and resource management recycling services.
Suckling Transport has renewed its EFFITIRESTM contract with Michelin solutions as the company works to further increase safety through effective tyre management. EFFITIRESTM – Michelin solutions’ name for an outsourced tyre management deal – covers the entire 168- strong Suckling Transport fleet of tractor units and trailers on a fixed pence per kilometre (PPK) contract. Dan Bauckham, Director of Engineering at fuel distribution specialist Suckling Transport, explains: “Professional tyre management is vital to our business and plays a key role in our drive to reduce on-the road incidents to zero. By renewing our contract with Michelin solutions we can ensure our vehicles are always operating on
premium tyres, maintained in the best possible condition.”
Michelin solutions has appointed local service providers ATS Euromaster and Tructyre Fleet Management to support the multi-sited fleet, inspecting the tyres on each vehicle and trailer on a monthly basis. These inspections ensure that potential tyre service issues are spotted early and can be rectified immediately, whilst routine service work such as regrooving, turning tyres on the rim and planned tyre replacements can be scheduled at the same time as a truck’s PMI. By building these efficiencies into the fleet maintenance structure, Michelin solutions helps reduce downtime on each vehicle.
Bauckham continues: “It’s essential
