Bridgestone Gains 100% of Axis Contract
Bridgestone has announced that it has been selected to provide 100% of Axis Fleet Management’s tyre requirements, rising from the company’s previous share of 70 per cent. Axis’s fleet of more than 3,000 MAN and DAF vehicles – comprising around 1,500 trailers and 1,500 trucks – will now benefit from the brand’s ‘cradle to grave’ offering.
Bridgestone’s commercial sales director Greg Ward said that while the company’s industry leading tyre products played a big factor in the decision to extend the agreement, the Total Tyre Care offering was an
equally compelling component. In addition to this, Bridgestone’s tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) was also seen as an influencing force.
Axis’ managing director Dave Potter said: “We have been very satisfied with Bridgestone’s package of support until now and were happy to extend our existing agreement to include 100% of our fleet. Bridgestone’s knowledgeable team offer us a quick response to our requirements and are always on hand to offer pro-active and reactive solutions.”
Michelin Solutions Signs Contract Renewal with First Bus
One of Britain’s largest bus operators, First Bus, has renewed its EFFITIRESTM contract with Michelin solutions – committing to fitting premium Michelin tyres on a price-per-kilometre (PPK) basis across 65 per cent of its fleet.
The new two year contract
will see tyre management
experts from Michelin
solutions supply, fit and
service Michelin tyres on more than 4,000 buses operating from garages nationwide. First Bus renewed the two year contract with Michelin solutions following eight years of service from the company, which prior to May 2013 was known as Michelin Fleet Solutions. First Bus operates around one fifth of local bus services in Britain, outside London.
Andrea Clegg, Procurement Manager for First Bus, said: “We have a good working relationship
with Michelin solutions. It’s very rare to hear of any surprises with our tyre contract. They understand our business fully and have the ideal products for the environment our vehicles operate in.”
First Bus operates a fleet of some 6,400 buses and carries approximately 1.6 million passengers a day in a huge number of communities including 40 of the UK's largest towns and cities.
