Bridgestone Extends First Bus Contract
Clive Price Transport Win Truck from Michelin
First Bus has extended its fleet agreement with Bridgestone for its range of premium products to cover different regions in the UK, predominantly Yorkshire and the south west.

director Greg Ward said: “We worked with First Bus over three or four years before bringing this urban all-position tyre to the market and the trials we conducted played a vital role in the tyre that is fitted to buses today. We trialled a number of different compounds and tread patterns before we came up with final product, which boasts improved grip and braking performance in all conditions.” Andrea Clegg, First Bus UK procurement manager said: “We are happy to be continuing our partnership with Bridgestone. They have worked closely with us with
their Total Tyre Care package and we have collaborated with them closely in the development of their new bus tyre.”

competition and will make sure we get the most out of the vehicle.” Cive Price Transport operates a fleet of 12 trucksand works woth businesses based anywhere between London and Liverpool.
Hankook Specified as OE on New Mercedes-Benz Actros
The deal covers around 40 per cent of the overall First Bus fleet which represents growth for Bridgestone, who count the
Hankook Tire has expanded its Original Equipment portfolio in the Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment by providing tyres in six different sizes for one of the award- winning Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the new Actros.
Hankook will supply four different types of tyres in accordance with the terms of its recent OE contract – AL10 and DL10 long haul tyres as well as the AM06 and DM03 on- & off-road tyres. The Hankook AL10 is designed to provide users with excellent durability and prevent uneven wear across the tire’s surface with its advanced tread designs. Maximizing handling and control, the reliable AL10 boasts improved stability for greater cornering performance and will be supplied in two sizes – 295/80R22.5 and 385/55R22.5. The Hankook DL10 prevents uneven abrasion from occurring, all while maintaining an outstanding driving performance. The DL10 provides increased long- term longevity by providing high
grip and enhanced traction. This model is released in the sizes 295/80R22.5 and 315/70R22.5.
In compliance with Euro VI emission standards under which the New Actros was designed, the tyres’ cohesive and environmentally-friendly features serve as the optimal fitment for the vehicle with their higher mileage, extra high fuel efficiency and low rolling resistance.
The on- & off-road tyres Hankook AM06 and Hankook DM03, exclusively presented in size 315/80R22.5, deliver enhanced toughness, longer tread-life and improved traction, making them ideal for traversing even inhospitable road conditions. The AM06 and DM03 boast high performance, resisting cutting and chipping with their split- and bruise-resistant side wall rubber. Moreover, they are equipped with a thicker, extended shoulder to prevent sidewall failures, coupled with outstanding casing durability.
New Senior Product Marketing Manager for Giti
Giti Tire has appointed Richard Hutchins to the newly created position of Senior Product Marketing Manager - Europe for its Truck and Bus Division (TBR). Hutchins will be instrumental in new product developments and the implementation of TBR tyres into
OE and replacement markets, as well as contributing to product strategy including technical, competitor, pricing and market analysis.
The role, which encompasses its GT Radial and Primewell brands, will require him to identify trends and
innovations in the relevant markets, as well as reinforce the company’s approach in key target countries to maximise sales.
Hutchins will report directly to Peter Foulkes, Marketing Director Europe - TBR. He will be based in Giti Tire’s UK head office in Northwich, Cheshire. He joins from Goodyear where he held the position of Key Accounts and OE Manager for Agricultural and Industrial tyres. He worked for the company for over 25 years in senior roles.
Tructyre Adds Major Supermarkets to Fleet Customers
Tructyre has announced the addition of three major supermarkets to its portfolio of fleet tyre management clients. From 25th January the company supplying tyres and service for Tesco.com home delivery vans and now claim to be the largest regional supplier managing in excess of 800 vans. This represents
20% of the Tesco UK fleet.
Since 1st March, Tructyre has also been looking after more than 200 ASDA home delivery vans in the company’s region, whilst from the start of April the company has been Waitrose’s largest UK RDC in Aylesford, Kent which has in excess of 700 pieces of equipment.
