ON-OFF ROAD TYRES
Goodyear Expands OTR Service with EM Track III
Helping lower the Total Cost of Ownership of Off-The-Road (OTR) tyres is one of the key benefits offered by Goodyear’s new EM Track III tyre management programme. Its launch at INTERMAT 2015 highlights the importance that Goodyear places on helping customers to optimise their investment in OTR tyres. Goodyear EM Track III is a Windows-based innovative service tool, utilised by all Goodyear OTR personnel, which records and
The system records data including fleet details, tyre and rim fitments and service information such as inspections and tyre pressures. In addition the system allows the creation of specialised reports such as historic and forecast information about the tyre performance. This is available to both the end user and Goodyear OTR experts to ensure that maintenance is carried out as effectively and efficiently as possible as well as helping with
optimise their tyre inventory. These features make EM Track III an innovative and powerful tool to manage OTR tyres. Goodyear´s philosophy is to offer high quality products and innovative solutions helping its OTR customers to
optimise their Total Cost of Ownership for their tyres. Based on this Goodyear also offers customers the option to use EM Track III as their in-house OTR tyre management system.
World Premieres for Goodyear in Specialist Off Road Market
Goodyear announced several World Premieres for specialist off-road markets at INTERMAT 2015 recently, including two new tyres for use mainly on port machinery.
The new EV-4C and EV-4R tyres, which are both in size 18.00R25, are particularly suited for use on container handling machines and straddle carriers, which are used in most ports around the world. The deep tread designs, which give high levels of grip in wet conditions, also ensure long service life and therefore can help to reduce total cost of ownership. A further important benefit is a high level of impact resistance thanks to robust sidewalls.
The Goodyear EV-4C features an innovative CAD-designed tread, which reduces lug-induced vibration resulting in excellent operator comfort and even tread wear. Nylon sidewall reinforcement reduces the risk of impact damage, which can cause expensive machine down-time. Further enhancements come from the breakers and carcass, which are reinforced for greater stability and productivity. Thanks to the tread design this tyre delivers high levels of traction and braking performance in wet conditions. The massive tread depth ensures extended tyre life thus improving the tyres’ cost per hour. The EV-4R shares similar features and benefits with the EV-4C but has a solid tread with two grooves providing high robustness.
The Goodyear EV-4C and EV-4R are now available in sizes 16.00R25, 480/95R25 and 18.00R25 covering all common sizes for port applications. Goodyear also introduced three
new sizes of its successful Off- The-Road (OTR) tyre RT-5D for wheel loaders. The new tyres complete the range of sizes that now cover all types of wheel loader. Thanks to the performance that the RT-5D tyres offer in terms of high level of operating hours and impressive payload, operating costs can be reduced and efficiency increased.
The Goodyear RT-5D is a level 250 (L5) traction OTR tyre for severe conditions such as in quarries, difficult industrial applications and recycling as well as in open and underground mines. The new sizes introduced at INTERMAT are 20.5R25, 23.5R25 and 26.5R25.
The Goodyear RT-5D Hi-Stability features an enhanced innovative tread pattern providing outstanding traction performance and a high level of protection against impact and shocks as well as excellent ride comfort. Its performance and longevity make this tyre a great fit for ‘front of quarry’ applications in difficult operations as well as in recycling.
A further feature of the RT-5D range is the Hi-Stability carcass technology. It combines reinforcements in the bead area, on the carcass breakers and at the ply turn-up. This results in enhanced productivity performance, greater protection for the sidewalls in aggressive environments and minimised deflection. The RT-5D can carry up to 25% more load per cycle (versus a non-Hi-Stability carcass) with its wide and solid non-directional tread enabling the transport of heavy loads like block handling.
makes available all tyre-related data applicable to any customer. This allows customers working with Goodyear specialists to ensure a highly cost-effective tyre use. “Tyres, especially those for heavy vehicles and machinery, are a significant investment. We believe that it is essential to support our customers in optimising the use of their tyres to minimise the Total Cost of Ownership,” said Octavian Velcan, Managing Director of Goodyear OTR Tyres in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “EM Track III is an innovative service offering that helps optimise tyre service life as well as helping with forecasting
budgeting and optimising tyre inventory.
When a new account is created, details of all the operator’s machines/vehicles as well as the tyres fitted and in stock are put on the EM Track III database. The machine information includes tyre- related operational data like for example type of operation, speed, heat conditions, inflation pressures, axle configuration, operational hours and tyre fitments. This information is then used to manage a maintenance program, which aims at optimising each individual tyre and thus helps keeping the Total Cost of
