ON-OFF ROAD TYRES
Maxam and Aeolus Spearhead KRT Presence in OTR sector
Leading wholesaler Kings Road Tyres (KRT) offers two quality tyre brands to provide comprehensive coverage of the OTR market, with its exclusive Maxam and Aeolus ranges.
KRT is the exclusive UK & Ireland distributor of all MAXAM OTR products, which cover hard-working applications including dump trucks, loaders, graders, scrapers and other specialist equipment used in mining,
heavy construction and civil engineering projects.
Key MAXAM patterns include the MS201 E2/L2, MS202 M&S Xtra E2/L2, MS301 E3/L3, MS302 E3/L3, MS303 E3, MS401 E4, MS402 E4, MS404 E4/L4, MS405 E4/L4, MS501 L5, MS502 MineXtra L5S.
A new solid cushion tyre – MS708 – is set to join the MAXAM range, with availability planned for later this year. The company has recently released an app featuring company and product information and a TKPH/TMPH (tonnes-kilometre per hour and ton- miles per hour) calculator that can be used to determine the right tyre for the job required. There is a Dealer Reserved Area on the new app, allowing customers to save their
TKPH and TMPH calculations and forward them via e-mail if required. The fast-growing Aeolus brand was established in 1965 and is one of the largest tyre producers in China. In the UK, KRT is the exclusive distributor of Aeolus OTR tyres for use on earth-moving machiner y and high speed cranes, in addition to its extensive TBR offer with fitments for On/Off road and mixed service applications. A consistently competitive price/quality ratio is a key sales factor and is backed by a commitment to on-going research and development in bringing new fitments and patterns into the market.
KRT operates a dedicated Aeolus website to improve awareness and knowledge of the company’s extensive range of specialist tyre applications. www.aeloustyres.co.uk
includes size, application and technical details for all Aeolus products including its OTR line-up. According to Tim Bader, KRT Group Operations Manager, the UK OTR market is benefitting from increased activity in the private construction, residential and civil engineering markets.
“The figures speak for themselves,“ says Bader. “In 2012-13 England had
the lowest house building rates since 1923, with just 108,190 homes completed. But in January this year (2015) house building rose at the fastest rate in more than a decade, boosted by growing demand for new homes and improving confidence.” According to industry statistics form the Home Builders Federation, at least 220,000 new homes are needed each year to meet household projections. Even getting close to that figure would represent a huge upswing compared to performance over the last decade.
“We are definitely starting to see the effects of a more buoyant market with sales of our exclusive MAXAM mid- range and Aeolus tyres moving ahead, compared to the last couple of years.
We are a long way from a boom market just yet, and customers continue to look for real value for money when they do purchase, but we are confident that a continued economic recover y will be the key factor in the OTR tyre market starting to move forward,” says Tim Bader. With MAXAM and Aeolus, KRT can supply products for a full range of OTR applications, including dump trucks, loaders, graders, scrapers, high speed cranes and other specialist equipment used in construction, civil engineering, house building, mining and port equipment.

Michelin X Works Tyres Now With Premium Protection
Michelin has announced the launch of a guarantee on its on/off-road X Works tyre range to protect customers from the financial risk of
designed to withstand this type of punishment and deliver superior performance over a long life. It’s a natural result of consistently
spending more on research and development than any other tyre manufacturer in the world.” Heywood adds: “We know our tyres offer lasting durability; the guarantee provides owner- drivers and fleets with a risk-free way of putting that to the test for themselves. We believe it is the only truck tyre guarantee of its kind in the sector.”
The new guarantee covers all multi-position and drive tyres in the X Works range, including the X Works XZY and X Works XDY
in 315/80 R 22.5 and 13 R 22.5 sizes. Also included are the X Works Z and XDY+ as a 295/80 R 22.5, together with the 385/65 R 22.5 XZY3. Tyres need to have been manufactured from 1 January 2011 onwards to qualify.
Registering tyres for the guarantee can be done via the Michelin
MyAccount web portal. Once a tyre has been registered,
it only takes four clicks to activate the
guarantee in the unlikely event of
incurring accidental
damage. Accidental damage is defined as impact damage
occurring to a registered tyre which makes it
unusable. The policy excludes damage suffered

accidental tyre damage. In the event of a registered X Works tyre suffering accidental damage before it is 50 per cent worn, Michelin will refund the operator. The level of refund will be determined against the tyre’s remaining tread depth, based on a fixed purchase price of £400/€500 per tyre.
Michelin says the guarantee covers tyres fitted as replacements and original equipment,

Guy Heywood,

Michelin’s truck tyre
division, explains:
"There’s a common
misconception that a jagged
rock on a construction site or a
piece of steel sticking up on a landfill doesn't differentiate between a £400 premium tyre and a £200 budget one. But that’s simply not true.
