Tecnomotor: TPM-02
The system also incorporates technical specifications for repair procedures, such as tightening torque values for securing the sensor to the wheel. All original Part Numbers are also included. Sensor replacement or tyre rotation procedures can also be carried out using the tool. The reprogramming kit allows the operator to reprogramme sensors in the vehicle via the diagnostic socket.
The TPM-02 has a graphic 128 x 64 pixel transflective LCD screen (for optimal
viewing even with direct sunlight) and lithium batteries capable of lasting more than one week with 30 vehicles
tested per day. Annual subscription of sensor diagnosis software and programming of universal sensors is available direct from Tecnomotor.
The increased need to reduce carbon emissions as well as growing demand for safety and comfort systems has led to a rise in the number of electronic control units fitted on commercial vehicles.
In addition to the engine control unit, systems similar to those used on passenger vehicles (body computer, dashboard, light management, automatic transmission, airbag, tpms, air conditioning system, etc.) are now becoming commonplace on trucks in addition to
those systems which are essential for a truck but not for a car (suspensions, retarder, heater, ad- blue, tachograph, etc.). According to Italian diagnostics specialist Tecnomotor, it is becoming clear clear that there is a need for complete diagnostic
pressure and the reprogramming of the universal sensors. According to Tecnomotor, the TPM-02 is an indispensable tool to:
• check the sensor operation before tyre maintenance is carried out;
• determine the correct operation of the TPMS system; • determine the reason why the “Tyre pressure” (TPMS) warning light turns on;
• make sure that the sensor provides accurate reading of pressure and temperature;
• perform the wireless measuring of the tyre pressure;
• activate safe and fast repair actions with reference information (such as rotation torque values or parts codes);
• make sure that the sensors are refitted in their original position
New Continental Hybrid HS3
In response to the ever increasing volume of regional distribution traffic, Continental has created the Conti Hybrid tyre family, intended for use on both regional roads and motorways.
The first version of
this Hybrid range in
the 22.5 inch format
to be released is the
Conti Hybrid HS3, a
steer axle tread for
universal use. These
newly developed tyres
will be available in no
fewer than eight
different dimensions
for heavy-duty
applications in 22.5
inch format by the end
of 2014.
Continental describes
the Conti Hybrid as an “All-Rounder for Mixed
Road Use”. Some of
the key features of the
Conti Hybrid HS3 include a design targeted specifically for regional and distribution transport on various road types, as well as a special profile for mixed use and maximum safety. According to Continental, the tyre offers up to 17 per cent longer service with reduced fuel consumption and optimises cost due to its retreading and regrooving options. These options allow for more direct savings on fleet operating costs, which are further improved by Continental’s patented AirKeep liner (used in all of Continental’s truck tyres) that prevents gradual loss of air pressure.
The 17 per cent longer service life is guaranteed by a thick new tread design with high wear volume (“plus volume pattern”), which also reduces rolling resistance. Service life is further improved by a solid reinforced premium casing, increased tread material, four-layer triangular
belts, and a robust bead construction. The Conti Hybrid’s load-carrying capacity has been further adapted for the heavier weight of Euro 6 trucks. Wheel alignment errors are much easier to distinguish from the tread
pattern, thanks to the integrated visual alignment indicator (VAI). The wet-road performance of the tyre throughout its life is further optimised by pocket sipes inserted diagonally into the base of the tread. The closed shoulders of the Conti Hybrid HS3 steel axle tyre in 22.5 inch format ensures that it is highly manoeuvrable, while reducing movement within the tread design. Furthermore, the utilisation of a new rubber compound in the sidewall serves to reduce the build-up of temperature in the tyre, resulting in lower fuel consumption.
The Conti Hybrid HS3 offers high levels of safety in demanding regional distribution traffic combined with excellent behaviour in wet weather throughout the tyre’s service life. The product’s outstanding braking properties enhance its reputation as a universal tyre.
tool which is able to operate at 360° around the entire electronics of the vehicle. Tecnomotor supply a wide range of diagnostic equipment for the commercial vehicle sector including integrated diagnostic systems, air-conditioning diagnostics, exhaust analysis systems and smokemeters. Here, however, we are concerned with the growing market for tyre pressure monitoring systems. This is a new job and growth opportunity, not only for tyre service professionals, but also for the spare parts market. To adequately take this opportunity operators must have a specialised and universal tool. Tecnomotor says it offers the right solution with the TPM-02, a device for the reading of the TPM sensors
after the service (positioning tool);
• the programming of the programmable sensors, such as SensIT and EZ sensors for the replacement of defect OEM sensors;
• perform a TPMS codification operation after replacing a sensor.
On vehicle check-in, the TPM- 02 allows you to check sensors and batteries for proper operation and lets you save and print (via PC) test reports for your customers.
It also investigates and troubleshoots malfunctions (high/low tyre pressure, damaged sensor, and so on). A sensor test feature allows the operator to repeat the test process for individual sensors.
