IAA PREVIEW
Continental Innovations Represent Future in Motion
"Driving the Future" – the motto of the world's biggest commercial vehicle show, the IAA in Hanover, perfectly matches the new products being launched by Continental at the show this year under its own IAA-motto "The Future in Motion”. The German automotive supplier is presenting its products and solutions in Hall 17, Stand A06-B11. Continental is aiming to set new benchmarks in the premium tyre segment, responding to tougher requirements and specifically targeting different areas of application with new truck tyre families.
The new Conti Hybrid is the ideal response to the growing changes seen in regional freight transportation. This all-rounder meets a wide variety of day-to-day challenges faced by distributors and fleets in regional transportation. This includes frequent acceleration, braking, manoeuvring and cornering on a range of road surfaces. The Continental developers have redesigned the tyre treads and rubber compound. The result is high mileage combined with excellent wet
driving and braking behavior and low rolling resistance. The new Conti Hybrid is therefore proving its credentials as a universally suitable all-rounder in the premium segment in sizes 17.5", 19.5", and 22.5".
The entire Conti Hybrid tyre line for heavy trucks will be on show for the first time at the IAA in size 22.5". In addition to the Conti Hybrid HS3 steering-axle tyres – recently launched onto the market – the Conti Hybrid HD3 drive-axle tyre and the Conti Hybrid HT3 for trailer and semitrailer tyres will be presented. They are set for market launch in 2015.
In addition to the Conti Hybrid, Continental is presenting the new high-tech tyre generation Conti EcoPlus at IAA. This is the expert tyre for use mainly on motorways. These high-performance tyres specifically targeted at modern truck combinations score well against previous generations. They reduce fuel consumption by up to 1.9 l over 100 kilometres for an equally high mileage. The new Conti EcoPlus tyres therefore make a substantial contribution to achieving lowest
overall driving cost.
Continental is underlining its role as a leading system supplier with the ContiPressureCheckTM system for constantly monitoring tyre pressure.

ContiPressureCheckTM works with combined pressure and temperature sensors inside the tyres, with discrepancies represented on a display for the driver. One of Continental's new innovations at IAA is the Automatic Trailer Learning function (ATL), a smart coupling of
sensor data from the semitrailer tyres. ContiPressureCheckTM effectively prevents over- consumption of fuel and damage to the tyres as a result of air pressure being too low. The smart monitoring system pays for itself within a short operating time.
GT Radial will be displaying 18 tyres at IAA Hannover 2014, of which 11 make their show debut including the recently launched GSW226 winter steer axle and GTL925 low platform trailer pattern tyres.
The GSW226 is the brand’s first specific ‘winter’ marked tyre, and carries the three peak mountain snow flake (3PMSF) symbol denoting all season capabilities and exceptional performance in severe winter conditions including snowy, icy and wet roads.
Designed with a wide shoulder groove to deliver optimum handling
immediately in size 385/65R22.5 and carries a index one of 158L, and an index two of 160J.
The GTL925 is a new generation long distance tyre for modern three- metre high mega trailer configurations. An extra wide seven rib low-profile casing and tread results in a ver y regular wear pattern with low rolling resistance and noise emissions.
Wide shoulder ribs increase protection against tearing and impact damage. The tyre is available now
in 435/50R19.5 with an index of 160J.
Also making their show debuts on Stand A33 in Hall 16 will be the new GSR225 Combi Road multi-usage, GAM831 non- directional, all- position mixed service, GAU861 all- position urban city- bus, GTL919 long- haul road trailer plus the GAR820 and GAR821 regional all- position tyres.
