Bridgestone to Intro Toolbox Touch App
Continental to Run St George’s Park Competition at CV Show
Fleet operators visiting Bridgestone’s stand at this year’s Commercial Vehicle show will get a first glimpse of an innovative new Bridgestone global application, which is expected to save them considerable time and money when it arrives in the marketplace.
The company has developed a digital fleet management solution to meet the needs of operators everywhere, as well as the brand’s sales and technical teams alike.
The ‘Toolbox Touch’, which is a native Windows 8 application with tablets in mind, records huge quantities of tyre data in a clear and concise manner. The tyres’ data is accumulated and registered on the “Toolbox”, which then provides easy-to-understand analysis and reports. Through the user- friendly interface, fleet managers can access vital information and keep track of monthly expenses, pressure maintenance, removal causes, retreadability, tyre life, cost per kilometre, inventory control, and much more.
Product and marketing manager Andy Mathias said: “The app represents a big advance in both technology and efficiency for Bridgestone. It records inspection of tyres on vehicles and quickly generates user-friendly reports for fleet consulting services.”
The ToolBox application categorises the Total Tyre Care approach into three
distinct packages: Monitor, Manage and Maintain.
The Monitor package is aimed at fleets who purchase tyres through a service provider or tyre dealer, but would welcome assistance in optimising or confirming a total tyre maintenance programme.
By subscribing to this service, Bridgestone tyre professionals will visit the fleet periodically and inspect a sample of tyres on vehicles as well as removed and end of life tyres. The data is captured on Toolbox and presented back to the fleet to provide a real insight into tyre maintenance and performance levels including pressure analysis, damage analysis, main causes of removal and retreadability analysis. Bridgestone will then work in partnership with the fleet to transfer this analysis in to real financial savings As part of The Monitor package, Bridgestone tyre professionals and service partners will compile a comprehensive tyre and maintenance package tailor-made to meet fleet requirements (over and above the Monitor package). Key Performance Indicators will focus on continuous improvement, ensuring fleet tyres and maintenance are always in good hands so that fleets can concentrate on your core business and enjoy peace of mind.

WheelRight Secures World First with Weigh-in-Motion Accreditation
WheelRight has scored an industry first by achieving accreditation from the National Measurement Office (NMO) for its unique technology to the globally recognised Weigh in Motion standard OIML R134. The ground-breaking R134 certification provides users with independent verification of the product’s consistent performance. WheelRight’s drive-over solution enables transport companies, port authorities and highway management
companies to check axle weights and tyre pressures within seconds, with no need for on-vehicle devices or time consuming manual intervention.
This is the first time the globally recognised Organisation Internationale de Métrologie Légale (OIML) has granted accreditation for a weigh-in-motion system that also incorporates tyre pressure monitoring in a single product.
The Oxford-based business has
gained the accreditation for its unique product that measures tyre pressures and axle weights without the need for any equipment being attached to the vehicle. Already adopted by bus and transport operators in the UK, this certification is sure to further support the product’s widespread use across the globe.
The WheelRight solution comprises a sensory pad that is embedded into the road, at a point where vehicles enter or leave a facility. There is no need to have sensors on the vehicle and as a vehicle drives over it, ‘in- motion’ measurements of weight and axle load, as well as vehicle tyre pressures and temperatures, are acquired and analysed. Within seconds, readings are emailed to the depot and optionally, delivered to the driver’s mobile phone.
In order to gain the R134 accreditation, WheelRight’s technology had to undergo a series of rigorous laboratory and practical tests over time to prove the accuracy and consistency of the product.
