PRODUCTS Increased Sales Channels for Safetytrim Wheel Nut Indicator and Retainer Safetytrim’s dual action wheel nut indicator and retainer is now available from www.hgvdirect.co.uk, making the product easier and more efficient to purchase Safetytrim is an easy-to-fit loose wheel-nut indicator and retainer for the commercial vehicle market. The product is a loose wheel nut indicator and retainer in one, alerting you to loosened wheel nuts and enables you to prevent wheel detachment. The product is pushed onto your vehicle’s or trailer’s wheel nuts, allowing the wheel nuts to loosen slightly, but then holds them in place at a new lower torque level. The indicator is then clearly visible when checked and ensures prompt attention to the loosened nut BFGoodrich Launches its First Ever Truck and Bus Tyres in the UK and Ireland BFGoodrich is to introduce its first ever tyre range for trucks, buses and coaches in the UK and Ireland, offering customers quality fitments at affordable prices. The company, most famous for its off-road specialism, sells more than 1.6 million tyres per year to the commercial vehicle market in territories across the world – previously except Europe. However, that’s all set to change in January 2018 as BFGoodrich’s commercial vehicle tyre arm goes global with its extensive range of 54 steer, drive and trailer tyres available in 17.5”, 19.5” and 22.5” fitments being launched Europe-wide. The range will be targeted at all segments of the truck, bus and coach tyre market – from long distance and regional to on/off road and urban. BFGoodrich’s drive axle tyres are predominantly 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) certified, guaranteeing a minimum level of performance in winter conditions, proven by a standardised test conducted on snow – assuring fleets’ grip and mobility year-round. All tyres are marked M+S. Guy Heywood, Commercial Director at BFGoodrich for the UK and Ireland, says: “The breadth of our range from launch means there will be a BFGoodrich tyre to fit pretty much every requirement on the market. Crucially, this means operators can adopt a single brand strategy, with complete confidence there will be a BFGoodrich tyre to meet all of their needs.” The new tyres have been designed, developed and tested to meet high expectations, but BFGoodrich is demonstrating its commitment to quality by offering customers a ‘100% Satisfaction Guarantee’. That means those who aren’t fully satisfied within 100 days of their new BFGoodrich tyres being fitted can return them to the manufacturer and receive a refund for the value of the remaining tread depth. Heywood explains: “It’s a demonstration of the confidence we have in our products, and means fleets can fit our new tyres without risk.” The BFGoodrich range will comprise three key products – Route Control, Cross Control and Urban Control – to cover all areas of the market. BFGoodrich Route Control tyres offer long lasting performance for the general haulage and coach market and are adaptable to meet operators’ needs; BFGoodrich Cross Control is a robust, high-grip tyre for the construction industr y – particularly suited to tippers and mixers; and BFGoodrich Urban Control is a low-noise tyre specifically designed for local service buses. It boasts additional sidewall protection and is equipped with sidewall depth indicators and an RFID Chip for tyre maintenance and inventory management. BFGoodrich’s truck, bus and coach tyres come in a range of 54 steer, drive and trailer fitments available in three sizes – 17.5”, 19.5” and 22.5” Falken Increases Load for Commercial Vehicle Tyre Range Falken is expanding its portfolio of truck tyres; adding new sizes to its already proven GI388 for regional transport and construction-site use, introducing new high-load versions for the RI151 and the SI011 winter truck tyre. Falken Tyre Europe is boosting the load index of its steering axle tyres for regional use, as well as introducing high-load and XL width versions in response to market demand. These high-load tyre models have replaced their normal load index predecessors to minimise confusion and the need for duplicate stocking. The RI151, tailored to meet the needs of regional transport, bus and coach use, is an ideal tyre for all-round use. Bearing the Three- Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS) mark, it offers all-weather characteristics. 295/80R22,5; 315/60R22,5 and 315/70R22,5 sizes are now available as high-load versions suitable for axle loads of up to eight tonnes (depending on model). The SI011, Falken’s latest winter truck tyre for steering axles, boasts winter-beating features. Developed using Falken’s advanced 4D-Nano Design technology, its stable casing and new tread design delivers superb traction, as well as high mileage and lifespan. In step with the increased axle loads in many of today’s trucks, the SI011 315/70R22,5 is now also available in a high-load version. Falken is also expanding its range of steering axle tyres for regional transport and construction sites by adding further sizes; the GI388 will soon be available in 13R22,5 and 275/70R22,5 sizes. The GI388 is also available as a low- loader tyre in size 265/70R19,5 143/141J. This model delivers enhanced traction and improved mileage, particularly in unpaved conditions. All models are suitable for recutting RI151-A – helping to protect the environment and saving valuable resources, as well as lowering costs. “By developing these new models and sizes, we are responding to both growing demand for high-load tyres and a desire to minimise stocking multiple variants,” explains Markus Bögner, Managing Director and COO at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH. “This enables us to cater to customers’ individual needs more effectively and help them to cut costs and save money over the longer term.” Commercial Tyre Business 23
