Tyre wholesaler GB Tyres UK were participating in the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in Birmingham to allow existing and new customers the opportunity to sit down and discuss their commercial tyre requirements.
GB Tyres UK, located in Tipton in the West Midlands, offer a range of premium, mid-range and budget tyre brands for truck, bus, coach and vans via a national network. These brands include Continental, Bridgestone, Boto, Dunlop, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Samson, Sava and Solideal. These cover a wide range of applications such as; HGV trucks and trailers, LGV trucks,
cement mixer trucks, refuse trucks, fire trucks, buses and coaches. At the 2017 CV Show, GB Tyres were showcasing two new brands that they had recently added to their portfolio. Sukhi Singh, Director at GB Tyres UK told us, “we are here to promote our new brands, namely Westlake and Linglong. In general, we tr y to bring a new tyre every three months to market.”
Although, GB Tyres UK were at the show to promote their offerings for the Commercial Tyre sector, they also offer tyres for farming and agriculture, forklift trucks, plants and earthmovers as well as foam filled tyres.
Additionally, it delivers resistance to tread tearing, impacts and casing damage in on/off road conditions. The upper sidewall and protection ribs allow the casing to be protected from impacts, cuts and curbing damage, whilst improving retreadability. As well as this, the regular wear pattern gives the user better mileage performance. In addition, the tyre has achieved 3PMSF certification and is available in the 385/65R22.5 size. The second of Giti’s new products came in the form of the GT867, which is specially designed for stop and go operating conditions with frequent changes in speed and direction. It is an urban tyre with a reinforced sidewall and a robust casing cap. The GT867 resists curbing and impact damage through a curbing band that additionally prevents sidewall abrasion, whilst wear indicators show when it is the correct time to rotate or demount the tyre. Furthermore, the tyre ensures that the user will benefit from good
mileage performance due to its wide tread pattern with deep grooves. It further combines comfort with reduced noise levels with its tread block and siping in the tread pattern. McHugh commented, “With the 867, we are looking to target the refuse collection sector and are focusing on the tyre’s qualities in stop-start operational conditions.”
Giti Tire also had encouraging news to report in their retread programme identified predominantly through their Genesis brand. Tony McHugh reports, “Following the raw material price increase of approximately 70%, we have seen a promising pick-up in our retread programme.” The retread proposal continues to stay the same as it always has done with Bandvulc, as nothing is retreaded unless it’s GT Radial, and every tyre is manufactured using the B2B retreading process.
Giti Officially Launch European Rebranding at the CV Show
Tony McHugh talked to us about the Giti rebranding
Giti Tire made their first solo appearance at the CV Show this year, which was marked by the official launch in Europe of the Giti rebranding exercise. Currently, the company is still passing through a crossover period between the outgoing GT Radial and the new Giti brand, but the trade show at the NEC in Birmingham was presented as “Day 1 in Europe” for the new brand.
Across all of the EU member states, the Giti brand will now replace its predecessor. Tony McHugh, TBR Sales and Marketing Director UK at Giti Tire explained; “the rebranded
products have been in the market for a few months now and the roll out has been very well received.” The show was also used to debut two new products that were being added to the range. The first product was the GAM851, a brand-new product, which replaces the GT676 following changes in EU noise regulations and is designed for use on mixed service operations. The compact three groove design connected with multiple tie bars delivers the required reduced noise levels. The tyre is characterised by a wide based steer and trailer design that gives reliable performance in rough terrain applications.
