RETREADING
Bandag Marks 60th Anniversary with Launch of Built for Better
At the European Bandag Dealer meeting held on 20 April, Bridgestone announced the EMEA roll-out of a newly revitalised brand image for the
Bandag brand together with the launch of a new global campaign called “Built for Better”, which aims unite the Bandag brand globally and position retreads as an innovative, sustainable business solution for fleet customers of any size. The announcement of the new brand profile coincides with Bandag’s 60th anniversary and the 10th anniversary
commented Riccardo Cichi, Chief Sales Officer, Bridgestone EMEA. “This is all about quality, performance and our guarantees. Our retreads offer
fleets the opportunity to maximise tyre performance and drive cost savings. We believe retreads are simply the smartest choice.”
The Built for Better campaign aims to be seen as a powerful expression of the global strength of Bandag. “Every brand comes with a promise, and our promise to the market with Bandag is Built
for Better,” continued Cichi, “But that does not just mean our retreads, it extends to our full offering of solutions and services provided by our Bridgestone Partner Network.
“Across Europe, Bandag can count on a strong network of more than 100 independent franchise dealers, this means there is a Bandag professional close to any fleet
profile markings (3PMSF).
In addition to the management of these three projects, Schwämmlein’s responsibilities will include data collection, offering technical support to van der Rijken, the acquisition and development of memberships, independent consultancy to paying
members and the development of a Global Retreading Symposium to be held during The Tire exhibition in Cologne next year. Schämmlein will also be responsible for securing the services of a successor once his 26- month contract has expired.

customer. We have invested heavily in our production and manufacturing technologies as well as our casing and production management system (BASys) to ensure end-to-end visibility with guaranteed reductions in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO),” he added.
The new issue of the KRAIBURG Austria pattern programme is now out. The retreading specialist has optimised its product range again this year in response to customer demand from several quarters. The core range has been streamlined to cater more precisely to the needs of the retreaders, with some tread lengths being discontinued and others added.
There are new additions in the 10- metre length, for example, in both the K77 range in the K_plus version and in the K208 range in the K_base and K_plus designs. KRAIBURG Austria has also completed its successful K227 product range to include 260, 270 and 280 mm so it

is now available in all widths and in the K_base and the K_plus compounds.
"The new layout and clear structure of our pattern programme went down very well with our customers last year," said Christoph Priewasser, Product Manager at KRAIBURG Austria. "Our new naming system established a foothold from day one as well. We are doing all we can to supply naturally high-quality retrea¬ding mate¬rials again this year and to provide the optimum basis for business ope¬rations." During their annual meeting held during the Autopromotec Exhibition in Bologna, Italy, BIPAVER, the European federation of trade associations representing the retreading industry, announced two key appointments with a view to taking the federation forward as it faces increased legislative and technical challenges in the coming years.
Firstly, Tim van der Rijken from the
Dutch trade association VACO was appointed as the Federation’s new General Secretary. Secondly, as part of a plan initiated by BIPAVER Chairman, Patrick Sjolin, BIPAVER has appointed Michael Schwämmlein as a Technical Consultant on a 26- month contract to oversee the three key technical projects currently being undertaken by BIPAVER, these being the labelling of truck tyres, the labelling of car tyres and winter
