New Appointments at Michelin
Michelin have been busy in the opening months of 2017 making several appointments across the business, whilst expanding the roles of other key personnel within the group. Jonathan Layton and Martyn Pointer were appointed as National Sales Manager Fleet, UK and Republic of Ireland and Commercial Director of Agriculture respectively, with responsibility for the UK, Ireland and Nordics.
Jonathan Layton has assumed his role, following more than 15 years at the company, where he will be managing the company’s team of key account managers. He will also focus on extending the company’s premium tyre policies to prospective fleet customers, from Michelin’s base at their UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. Pointer has moved into his new position, after replacing Mike Lawton, who has taken on the position of Head of Communications, after five years in the role. Pointer joined the Michelin team in 2013 as Country Distribution Development Manager for the UK and Ireland, focusing on the car, van and truck product lines. He then changed positions to become National Sales Manager for the car, 4x4 and LCV product lines, overseeing a team of 20. Pointer’s new role will see him reporting to Dominique Pelletier, Commercial Director for Michelin’s agricultural business in Europe, with responsibility for Denmark,
Finland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and the UK. He will split his time between Michelin’s UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, and travel across his area of responsibility.
Meanwhile, Michelin Solutions UK Commercial Director Paul Davey and Sales Manager Richard Dale have expanded their roles to give functional support to numerous Scandinavian countries, alongside their responsibilities within the UK and Ireland. Davey, who is appointed Michelin solutions Commercial Director North European region, explains: “As we move forward in 2017, our UK and Nordic teams will now be working much more closely together, further strengthening our business. In the UK, we currently manage some of the biggest tyre contracts Michelin solutions has within Europe; when we combine this expertise with our key account managers’ local market knowledge within the Nordics, we see significant growth potential.”
Dale, who is appointed Michelin solutions Sales Manager North European region, adds: “The challenges facing Nordic commercial vehicle fleets can certainly be more extreme at times than in the UK and Ireland. However, regardless of how low the temperature gets in winter, fleet performance still boils back down to safety, efficiency and compliance.”
