 Dawsonrentals Confirms Bandvulc Tie-Up
Ivybridge based retreader Bandvulc and Dawsonrentals’ truck and trailer operation have confirmed an exclusive four-year agreement, which will see Bandvulc working closely with the individual managers at Dawsonrentals’ 30 UK branches, collecting tyres from the 11,000 strong truck and trailer fleet and retreading them as required.

properly with all our scrap tyres.” Snowden, describing the relationship in more detail, highlighted that their Central Maintenance Team will remain in control of the tyres removed from their vehicles, with Bandvulc then collecting them and dealing with them on behalf of Dawsonrentals. With Bandvulc producing in excess of 200,000 retreads a year in the UK, with some 200 pattern/size combinations

revealed that the agreement had been subject to a rigorous process, despite the fact that they had enjoyed a good working relationship with Bandvulc for a few years, but they felt that formalising this collaboration would be for the benefit of both parties. Expanding upon this, Snowden said, “We enjoy the quality Bandvulc provides, it has such good credentials, as well as the carbon reduction and other environmental benefits we accrue through the tie-up. We know that a Bandvulc retread uses 68 litres of oil less than a replacement tyre, and that the Bandvulc Plus+ fleet management system will deal

Bandvulc’s Group Commercial Director, Phil West, commented, “Dawsonrentals values the thorough inspection service we carry out on all tyres we take in from them through our Ivybridge, Wigan and Lutterworth centres. Each tyre is individually checked, and we then make the decision on behalf of Dawsonrentals as to whether it is still usable, suitable for retreading or needs to be scrapped. We also support Dawsonrentals’ own 24- hour emergency call out service as and when required.”
conduct fleet-wide tyre safety inspections and ensure a productive and responsive supply chain, to allow Reading Buses to continue to fit Michelin tyres in-house.
The company’s fleet sports a variety of Michelin urban bus tyres. These tyres are characterised by reinforced
sidewalls protecting against kerbing and cutting down on wheel interventions and downtime. Additionally, the operator has chosen to regroove some of its Michelin tyres under the contract renewal, helping Reading Buses make further fuel savings.

Fowler Welch Agree Contract Extension with Bandvulc
Fowler Welch has committed to extending its partnership with Bandvulc to 2020. The agreement means that BVPlus+, the management arm of the Bandvulc Group of Companies, will supply nominated new and Bandvulc retread products together with total 24/7 tyre management for its fleet of tractors and trailers across the UK. The partnership sees BVPlus+ managing tyre requirements for over 400 tractor units and more than 720 trailers - 24/7/365, which will be controlled in-house by BVPlus+’s own staff.
For Bandvulc, Phil West (Group Commercial Director) commented; “We’re delighted to have negotiated and extended our agreement with Fowler Welch well into the future. This term arrangement allows us to develop and test new and innovative
ideas with a key client, and to demonstrate the results in an operational arena, and not just, as is usual, as a test base”.
Nick Hay, Managing Director of Fowler Welch added; “It’s always refreshing to hear of suppliers looking to the future, testing innovative ideas and actually carrying out their commitments beyond what would be standard. Fowler Welch continues to grow and expand its operation across the UK and it is important we adapt our services to accommodate changes. The management of tyres relies upon a quality delivery of service provision, like a vehicle service agent who has to control and deliver a standard which excels - the BVPlus+ network has been first class throughout.”
EFFITIRES Contract Renewal Just the Ticket for Reading Buses
A three-year renewal of Michelin Solutions EFFITIRES tyre management contract has been agreed with Reading Buses, trusting in the comprehensive programme to help the operator focus on “delivering excellence in public transport”.
The pence-per-mile deal incorporates Reading Buses’ fleet of 181 single and double-decker buses. These buses operate from the company’s central depot in Great Knollys Street.
The agreement sees Michelin solutions’ team of business support personnel, auditors and technicians help to guarantee that Reading Buses’ tyres are serviced to the highest possible standards. The company will also maintain a shared action plan, developed with Reading Buses, to ensure continued harmonised operations, thus easing the administrative burden of managing a diverse and busy fleet. Moreover, Michelin solutions will
