Kings Road Tyres Expands Blacklion TBR Range
Falken Expands CV Product Range
Kings Road Tyres (KRT) has added three new sizes to its exclusive Blacklion range of products for the haulage sector.
New for 2016 are the BT165 and BD175 steer and drive axle tyres, available in popular sizes 295/80R22.5, 315/80R22.5 and
315/70R22.5.
They join another recent addition to the range in the form of the BT160 385/65R22.5 trailer tyre, for regional haulage applications. All products offer fleet owners a quality, branded budget tyre option and are backed by full after sales and warranty services. Blacklion is one of a powerful collection of exclusive brands marketed by KRT in the TBR sector.
The leading wholesaler is also the solus distributor of the Aeolus, Antyre, Fullrun, Uniroyal and Matador brands, which together offer full coverage of mid-range and budget truck, bus, coach and OTR fitments.
KRT is also a leading distributor of Bridgestone, Continental, Firestone, Goodyear and Uniroyal truck, bus and coach products, offering customers an extensive choice of quality brands.
With such major stockholdings, KRT supply a full range of products, not
simply the faster moving lines. Its TBR offer includes Long & Regional haul, Mixed Service, On/Off road, Coach and Urban tyres.
Falken Tyre Europe has announced the expansion of its truck and bus tyre range with the addition of two new types of
simulation tool offers the ability to analyse the effects of compound and construction on tyre performance at sub-nano level. For example, Falken was able to identify how and where heat would be generated and how to minimise it. This is important as temperature build up results in higher rolling resistance which ultimately reduces fuel economy. Both new tyres offer excellent all- weather properties, and almost all

regional traffic tyres, the RI 151 tyre for steering axles and the BI 851 for drive axles. Both tyres have been designed with exceptional mileage performance and even wear as the key performance parameters.
Excellent directional stability, stable braking on wet, dry or snow-covered roads, as well as high traction were also important targets when developing the new tyres. In order to develop the optimal fuel-saving rubber compound, Falken’s tyre engineers used 4D Nano simulation technology. This powerful

Continental recently announced the introduction of the VanContact Winter, a new winter tyre for light commercial vehicles and vans. Along with superior safety characteristics on snowy and icy surfaces and precision handling on snow-covered or wet roads, the new tyre also offers significantly improved fuel efficiency. The greater economy compared to the VancoWinter 2 is important not only for customers in the commercial
15 percent over its predecessor. This is due to an advanced silica compound which lessens tyre deformation on entering the contact patch, thereby reducing energy loss, as well as to an improved overall design.
The VanContact Winter owes its five percent improvement in performance when braking on snow and nine percent improvement when braking in the wet to both its tread compound and its optimised sipe concept. S-shaped sipes in the tread centre and an interrupted sipe structure in the shoulder blocks significantly increase the number of gripping edges in the longitudinal direction. Meanwhile, zigzag circumferential grooves and evenly spaced snow pockets in the shoulder blocks improve the compression of snow in the grooves, making for greater grip.
The new VanContact Winter is now available in 12 sizes, with plans to further expand the product range through 2016.

The GT Radial retreading programme, GT REE Tread, has added size 315/70R22.5 to its GDR690 range to specifically target UK fleet operators looking to maximise price per kilometre.
The regional drive axle tyre, which is also available in 295/80R22.5 and 315/80R2.5, is manufactured using GT Radial casings in partnership with a leading UK-based operation. The GDR 690 features a deep tread pattern with interlocking block arrangement and optimised compounds to ensure excellent traction, especially in wet conditions, as well as optimal mileage performance and resistance to damage and impacts.
An acronym for reliable, economical and environmental, the GT REE Tread portfolio is a high quality, hot
cure bead-to-bead remould designed to both lower costs for operators and reduce the environmental impact of tyres. Also available is the GT REE Tread GTR990 regional trailer pattern in size 385/65R22.5.
