Kerr’s Tyres Sign Three Year Tyre Deal With The Henderson Group
Surefreight Continues Partnership with Continental
Kerr’s Tyres have announced a three year deal with the Henderson Group, which will see Kerr’s Tyres supply, fit and maintain all tyres for the Henderson Group under an innovative Pence Per Kilometre (PPK) contract. According to Kerr’s Tyres the contract is already achieving 50% savings.
PPK tyre contracts are of specific benefit to firms that are servicing a retail chain, where cost management is key to ensuring a store’s profitability. They benefit hauliers running fleets by providing security in that there will be no unforeseen spikes
in tyre costs, breakdowns or inefficiencies across the length of the contract. Therefore this allows, the Henderson Group to focus on the day to day running of their business.
Greg Gilmore, the Transport Manager of Henderson wholesale said, “At Henderson Group we are very pleased to have awarded this contract to Kerr’s Tyres. The Pence Per Kilometre package has worked very well to date and allows us to plan ahead safe in the knowledge that we know what our tyre costs will be in advance.”
Irish logistics company, Surefreight, which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, has chosen to extend its exclusive relationship with Continental for the third year running. Surefreight has confirmed that it will continue to utilise products exclusively from the Continental range, following another year of reliability and quality. Surefreight has 200 tractor units and over 500 trailers, highlighting why the company is one of Ireland’s largest fleet operators. The company adopts Continental’s ContiLifeCycle process across its fleet, in order to ensure it gets maximum mileage and fuel economy. This process ensures that the correct tyres are used for individual applications, based on advice from Continental’s experts. The serviceable life of the tyres are lengthened with regrooving and retreading, supported by professional monitoring of the tyres performance and condition.
Surefreight director, Brian McManus commented on the positive impact of their partnership with Continental, “Since we introduced Continental's products we have seen significant improvements, particularly on life expectancy and whole life costs. Tyre upkeep and management can be a real headache for fleet managers, particularly
for a large fleet like ours, but Continental's ContiLifeCycle programme has helped us ensure we get the most out of each and every tyre, while still maintaining safety and fuel efficiency." At this moment, Surefreight are using Continental HSR2 for its steer axles, which were specifically designed to provide maximum grip in all conditions. The HSR2 features intermediate blocks guaranteeing this extra traction and grip, in combination with a chip resistant compound that maximises life expectancy. Meanwhile, Surefreight’s
trailers are fitted with the low-weight Continental HTR2 intended to improve fuel efficiency, by delivering high mileage, through its utilisation of a precisely balanced compound and tyre geometry.
