     WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Truckcam Leads the Way with CV Wheel Alignment Technology
TruckCam, founded in 2001 and with headquarters in Katrineholm, Sweden, has rapidly become one of the world’s leading suppliers of wheel alignment technology for commercial vehicles, exporting to more than 30 countries and supported by a global dealer network.
The company is involved in the continuous development of wheel alignment technology for workshops and vehicle manufacturers based on the company’s patented camera technology. Although the company has a wide range of aftermarket
and maximum turn. It can be used on all commercial vehicles such as trucks, trailers, buses, vans, mobile cranes and agricultural vehicles. The TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment System enables dynamic toe and camber measurements while in the driving position by using the Rolling Method with auto compensation of run-out. Computer assisted manual run-out compensation of wheel adaptors is also possible, adding to the flexibility of the system.
The TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment System uses the centreline principle to determine the position of axles and individual wheels in relation to the vehicle centreline. Since commercial vehicles are long, the frame centreline is the best fit. The vehicle centreline is determined by the self-centring frame gauges hung
influences on measurement from the ground and/ or tyres. The compact and durable design of the cameras also contributes to the portability and versatility of the system.
The main advantages of the system are as follows:
• The combination of camera, gyro and inclinometers provides the highest accuracy and repeatability • The ability to compensate for influences on measurements from floor/ground and/or tyres
• A very fast operating time based on rolling method technologies
• Wireless communication for high flexibility
• Live reading of values during adjustment
• No requirement for the levelling of camera sensors and/or reflective targets
• Reduction in the potential for operational errors.
The TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment System is available in four main system configurations: The TC-2001 TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment Upgrade System is designed for users wishing to upgrade an existing first generation TruckCam system or a specific laser system to the latest and most advanced level. The system configuration basically consists of two cameras, a wireless server, reflective targets and software, all placed in a protective TruckCam equipment case.
The TC-2002 TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment Basic System is an entry level system designed to allow the user to offer wheel alignment services and basic frame checks. The system configuration is made up of two cameras, a wireless server, all the basic software and hardware needed, and comes with a handy wall panel as well as protective case for storage of the equipment.
The TC-2003 TruckCam Camera
Wheel Alignment Advanced System allows the user to carry out a wide range of wheel alignment services for trucks, trailers and semi-trailers. As the system comes with theTruckCam All-in-One Software, it also enables the checking of frame deformations. The system configuration is made up of two cameras, a wireless server, and all the software and hardware needed to conduct wheel alignment services on a broad range of vehicles. The equipment comes complete with a storage cabinet for the computer, printer, and accessories.
The TC-2004 TruckCam Camera Wheel Alignment Professional System makes the user able to measure nearly all kinds of commercial vehicles in the most accurate and fast way. By using the additional inclinometer unit, this system is able to compensate influences from floor/ground and/or tyres. The system is also supplied with the TruckCam All-in-One Software package.
The TC-2002, 2003 and 2004 are also available as all-in-one systems incorporating four wheel adapters with reference blocks to be able to use the system for twin roll and measuring two axles by rolling the vehicle once.
In addition to the above standard packages, the company also offers the TC-4010 TruckCam Silver Line, which is a compact wheel alignment system designed for customers just starting wheel alignment activities. It enables truck-and bus workshops as well as tyre service centres to offer commercial vehicle wheel alignment services in a quick and accurate way.
TruckCam are represented in the UK by Automotive Equipment Solutions UK Ltd of Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
solutions, the company is highly involved in the supply of factor y based alignment systems to commercial vehicle manufacturers. The company’s factory solutions include end of line systems, axle alignment systems (designed for axle manufacturers to pre-align toe- in), rear axle alignment systems (to align the driven axle perpendicular to the frame) and axle parallelity systems. Factory references include an enviable list of major truck manufacturers from around the world including MAN, Mercedes, Scania and Volvo, as well as a number of major axle producers. For the aftermarket, TruckCam claims that its Camera Wheel Alignment System is the most advanced system on the world market.
The system is designed for measuring all wheel angles including toe, camber, axle out-of- square, axle parallelism, castor, kingpin inclination, toe-out-on-turn
in the front and rear of the frame or body. Reflective targets are placed at an equal distance from this centreline, creating an imaginary line on each vehicle parallel to its centreline. The camera measures distance and position in relation to the front and rear targets, and the system software then calculates all wheel angles for that particular wheel and axle in relation to the centreline, like total toe, individual toe, out of square and parallelism between axles.
The TruckCam system with the rolling method is completely portable. It gives the possibility, for instance, to diagnose a fleet of vehicles outdoors as well as indoors in a ver y short time.
Since the camera work only with light in the infrared spectrum, sunlight or indoor light have no influence; the system works in every light condition. With the additional Inclinometer Unit, the system can compensate for any
