CV Manufacturing Declines in July, but Exports Remain Steady In 2017
Goodyear has announced that it has come to an agreement to acquire Ventech Systems GmbH
UK commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing fell 26.1% in July according to figures released recently by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 6,499 vans, trucks, buses and coaches were built in Britain during the month in question, a result of fluctuating fleet
production also saw a decline, with output down 10.9% to 50,281 units. However, production for export stayed steady, rising 5.9% in 2017 with 31,419 units shipped internationally already in 2017 – the vast majority to Europe.

“Goodyear and Ventech Systems are both companies founded and driven by innovation,” said Andreas Pietsch, Ventech Systems chief operating officer and business manager. “Goodyear’s strong market presence enables additional worldwide growth opportunities for Ventech Systems.
We are excited to support Goodyear’s fleet customers with our unique technology in terms of process optimisation, business efficiency and road safety.”
The acquisition of Ventech Systems will further expand Goodyear Proactive Solutions’ commercial offerings with a closed loop service enabling fleet operators to measure tyre pressure, tread depth and vehicle weight on all their vehicles each time they enter or exit their depot. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter. The business and technology will be integrated into the company’s Goodyear Proactive Solutions business.
