     CONTRACT WINS
Bandvulc Cleans up on Contract Extension with CSG
A recently agreed contract extension with CSG (Cleansing Service Group) sees Bandvulc continue to manage the privately-owned waste management company’s fleet via BVPLUS+. Bandvulc has been involved with CSG for the past 8 years and this latest deal sees BVPLUS+ continue to manage their fleet of commercial vehicles for the next three years.
Integral to the deal is a change in new tyre fitments to the Uniroyal brand. CSG’s full tyre policy is now
Mick Arnold, Fleet Engineer for the CSG Group comments; “The decision to extend our current agreement with Bandvulc was an easy one to make. The complete package of product, service and financial management that Bandvulc provides has proven to be successful and the extension of such an agreement offers the CSG Group continuity and added value in what continues to be a volatile market place. The Transport sector has seen many cost pressures and it is important that we maintain
relationships and advantages by working with our supply partners as we do with our customers.” Tony Doyle, Sales Channel Manager for Bandvulc and CSG’s Account Manager adds; “We place a lot of time and effort in working with our customers so
that we all see long term benefits. This news reflects our endeavours, and we are delighted to remain a long-term supplier to CSG, managing each aspect of tyre delivery and management services throughout the UK via our contract division - BVPlus+.”

Michelin “The Obvious
Choice” for DAF Dealer’s
Bandvulc and Uniroyal, both Continental Group products, and the company’s various locations throughout the UK are serviced by Bandvulc’s Key Partner Network. The agreement sees Uniroyal new tyres being fitted to all steer axle tyres supported by Bandvulc’s retread products on all other positions.
Demonstrator
Customers putting TBF Thompson’s new DAF XF 510 demonstrator through its paces are experiencing the top-spec tractor’s on-road performance at its very best, thanks to Michelin. The County Antrim- based DAF dealer selected 315/70 R 22.5 steer and drive tyres from Michelin’s X Multi ‘regional’ range as a factory-fitted option for its latest demonstrator.
TBF Thompson Director Alan Espie says: “We want customers to experience the XF at its very best, so we selected leather seats and a range of in-cab options for maximum driver comfort, plus specified premium Michelin tyres as original equipment. Tyre choice plays a huge role in getting the maximum performance out of any vehicle, so fitting Michelin was the obvious choice.”
The 6x2 44-tonne tractor features DAF’s Super Space sleeper cab and was specified with lightweight alloy wheels and a 17.5” mini mid-lift axle – also equipped with Michelin tyres – allowing TBF Thompson to fit the XF with optional increased-capacity fuel tanks.
Espie adds: “Just like Michelin, we make a point of selling on performance over price, and we’re confident our customers will experience DAF’s flagship tractor at its optimum specification on Michelin tyres.”
By selecting 315/70
R 22.5 tyres over the traditional 295/80 R 22.5 fitments, TBF Thompson is fitting the fastest growing dimension of truck tyre in the UK market. This opens access to the latest tyre technologies, as research and development tends to focus on this larger size first, due to its popularity across Europe.
By specifying Michelin, TBF Thompson can also take advantage of Michelin’s accidental tyre damage guarantee. TBF Thompson holds the franchise for DAF Trucks in Northern Ireland, operating from its Mallusk headquarters. The company has more than 55 years of commercial vehicle experience, and provides comprehensive sales, service and parts support to DAF operators locally.
   Bridgestone and FirstGroup
Celebrate Global Fleet
Partnership
Bridgestone is celebrating the largest commercial fleet win in its history, having secured a $110m, five-year deal with transport operator FirstGroup. The contract will see Bridgestone supplying tyres to more than 60,000 of FirstGroup’s buses and coaches in the USA, Canada and the UK.
As part of the agreement Bridgestone will provide tyres for all of FirstGroup’s vehicles in the UK and around 80% of its operations in the United States and Canada. Greg Ward, Commercial Sales Director for Bridgestone, said; “To win the contract, we needed to demonstrate our value and ability to deliver on a global level in order to stave off stiff competition from a rival premium tyre manufacturer. We had a strong goal to become the number one supplier to FirstGroup and, as such, we demonstrated an ability to act as a global company with a ‘one team’ philosophy, meaning that the
geographical distance between our US and UK teams was never an issue.”
In negotiating the contract, Bridgestone had to demonstrate flexibility to meet specific needs of the fleet, which will predominantly run on UAP-001 tyres, featuring different tread patterns unique to each market. Glen Lovett, Group Procurement Manager for FirstGroup said; “We are delighted to have agreed this global contract with Bridgestone. Having first begun working together through a fleet agreement in Leicester in 2004, we have seen significant achievements and built up a solid working relationship over many years.”
Lovett added; “This agreement will provide the flexibility that we need to manage a huge fleet of vehicles on both sides of the Atlantic, including our local buses, coach services, and school transportation.”
