Barum Expands Trailer Tyre Range
a ‘B’ rating versus their predecessor, whilst the 315/60 R 22.5 drive and 295/60 R 22.5 drive tyres have improved from ‘D’ to ‘B’. The 445/45 R 19.5 trailer tyre has
jumped from ‘C’ to ‘A’, whilst the all-new 355/50 R 22.5 all-position tyre has a ‘B’ rating.

Barum is expanding its range of tyres for the commercial vehicle market by adding three new trailer tyres to the 200 R-series. The BT 200 R is now available
in sizes 385/65 R 22.5 and 385/55 R 22.5, as well as in the special

consumption
and the
flexibility for use
in both regional
and long-distance
transport. Like all
Barum tyres from
the 200 R-series,
the trailer tyres
are based on a
robust carcass
with reinforced
steel cord beads, which makes them suitable for retreading.
Barum started the introduction of its new 200 R-series product line last year, with the steering and drive axle tyres. The new trailer tyre BT 200 R 385/65 R 22.5 delivers high mileage and consistent safety while driving, even on wet roads.
With its very good wet
performance, the tyre achieves EU label rating “B” in the wet grip category in both tyre sizes. Thanks
to the improved composition of the rubber compound, the BT 200 R 385/55 R 22.5
Semperit Expand RUNNER Tyre Family
The recently launched Semperit RUNNER family of tyres has been met positively by companies that are placing considerable importance on attractive price-performance ratio. With this in mind, Semperit is now expanding its comprehensive truck tyre range in the area of trailer tyres with the RUNNER T2 in size 445/45 R 19.5” targeted for large-volume transport jobs requiring an internal load
performs well with its small diameter and high mileage potential. The optimised tyre contour with a reinforced shoulder, the new tread design and the newly developed rubber compound of the RUNNER T2 lead to high mileage with optimised rolling resistance. This is also expressed in the EU label value “B” for fuel efficiency. The trailer tyre is also marked as an M+S tyre and meets the
height of three metres in the trailer.
This tyre size is of particular interest for the so-called megatrailers and semi-trailers that offer a load volume of up to 100 m3 and require a low platform height in order to comply with the statutorily permitted total vehicle height. In an industry where efficiency is always a top priority, the RUNNER T2

statutor y requirement for use in winter conditions.
Thanks to its robust carcass design, the Semperit RUNNER T2 445/45 R 19.5” is retreadable and is thus a cost-effective, sustainable solution, even beyond the lifetime of the first tyre.

and BT 200 R 385/65 R 22.5 are also
resistant to cutting damage. Together
with the re-designed tread of the tyre contact surface and
the stable carcass, the trailer tyres are optimally set up for a long tyre life.
An optimised rubber compound and a new tyre contact surface tread
have also been used in the third trailer tyre of the current product expansion, the BT 200 R 445/45 R 19.5. The power package beneath the trailer tyres has a
high load capacity and optimum mileage with a low diameter, and is therefore particularly suitable for use in volume transport. Despite the low diameter, the BT 200 R 445/45 R 19.5 saves on fuel and thus achieves a “B” rating in the EU label fuel efficiency category.
Michelin X Line Energy Range Expands with Six New Sizes
Michelin has expanded its fuel- saving X Line Energy tyre range with the launch of six new fitments. The new additions are designed primarily for mega-volume trailers, car transporters and low height tractor units, and offer improved mileage, increased fuel efficiency and a lower rolling resistance compared to the previous generation of Michelin fuel-saving tyres in these sizes.
The launch sees Michelin X Line Energy multi-position tyres now available in 315/60 R 22.5, 295/60 R 22.5, and an all-new 355/50 R 22.5 size. Drive variants are offered in 315/60 R 22.5 and 295/60 R 22.5, while the trailer range has been expanded with 445/45 R 19.5 fitments.
All new sizes offer improved mileage potential over their predecessors, with the 315/60 R 22.5 and 295/60 R 22.5 all-position tyres projected by Michelin to offer 30 per cent and
17 per cent improved mileage potential.
Michelin says the new fitments will offer a fuel saving of 1.25 litres per 100km during the tyres’ first life – and up to 2.5 litres of fuel saved per 100km when the tyres are new. This adds up to more than £3,500 of fuel saved during the tyres’ first life in service – before being regrooved. Guy Heywood, Commercial Director UK and Republic of Ireland at Michelin, says: “The expansion of our X Line Energy range opens up a wealth of fuel-saving potential to more operators – with a tyre combining an ultra-low rolling resistance with the safety, durability and longevity that is the hallmark of Michelin.”
The new tyres’ efficiency is highlighted by their fuel efficiency rating under EU tyre labelling legislation. The new 315/60 R 22.5 all-position and 295/60 R 22.5 all- position tyres improve from a ‘C’ to
