SJ Bargh Signs Up with Goodyear
Goodyear has signed a deal with SJ Bargh, a leading logistics provider specialising in milk and general haulage, to fit and supply its more than 150 vehicles with Goodyear KMAX tyres and the Goodyear Omnitrac range.
The partnership, which includes dedicated support from TruckForce, sees SJ Bargh move to Goodyear after 40 years with a leading competitor. Commenting on the move, Steve Thompson, General Manager of Fleet Services at SJ Bargh, says: “We run a tough operation, with 8 wheeled milk tankers covering the North West, Midlands and Wales. In addition we run a fleet of tractor units and trailers, both on general haulage
and milk logistics. We needed a strong performing tyre on mileage and fuel efficiency, coupled with a robust service package.”
SJ Bargh has taken a Price per Kilometre (PPK) contract with Goodyear, allowing the business to better manage its tyre investment over time. The company, whose customers include Muller Milk and Ingredients and Joseph Heler, has been operating in the milk logistics sector for more than 70 years and employs more than 300 people at its Lancaster base. More recently the logistics company has grown its operations in general haulage, pallet services and warehousing.
after participating in a 27-trailer pilot project and reporting promising results, with Gist Engineering Director Sam de Beaux describing the EFFITRAILER programme as “the first important step on the road to predictive rather than reactive maintenance for commercial fleets”.
Michelin solutions has launched EFFITRAILER in Europe, and the
telematics system can be installed on all trailer types equipped with EBS, regardless of age or manufacturer. The solution is aimed primarily at fleets operating at least 100 trailers on any brand of tyres, and is available regardless of current or future tyre policy. This makes it suitable for the estimated 90 per cent of trailers in Europe which do not currently use telematics.
Tyrenet Secures Fleet Management Contract for T.O.M Vehicle Rental
Fleet maintenance and breakdown specialist Tyrenet has secured an agreement with T.O.M Vehicle Rental in Airdrie for complete nationwide management of its 11,000+ fleet. Tyrenet will manage all service and breakdown work conducted by T.O.M’s fitter community, who will be using Cam Systems’ e-jobsheet app for both servicing, maintenance and repair work and mobile breakdown fitment, predominantly across trucks, trailers and vans.
Jim Shields, procurement manager at T.O.M Vehicle Rental, said, “We were impressed with the bespoke solution that Tyrenet presented to us. The link with e-jobsheet will make transferring accurate data far quicker, leaving us with full confidence that
Tyrenet will be able to provide an efficient and controlled fleet management function, which can be maintained within one solution.” Aaron Mikoleizik, operations director at Tyrenet, commented, “One of the reasons our complete solution works is the total connectivity that is achieved between T.O.M.’s technicians and fitters and Tyrenet through the introduction of the e- jobsheet app to their tablets. This will enable us to provide a prompt and efficient service to T.O.M.’s customers and internal vehicle management, with regular updates back from the service providers and fitters helping to drive a better fleet management function.”
Dent Logistics Signs Five Year Deal with Goodyear
Goodyear is celebrating another successful contract win with Cumbria based haulage firm, Dent Logistics.
The new five-year-deal will see Dent move away from its previous premium tyre manufacturer to take advantage of Goodyear’s technologically advanced tyres as well as its comprehensive fleet management service, TruckForce. Dent’s new 100% Goodyear tyre policy will see the haulage firm fit Goodyear’s leading mileage tyre the KMAX and its robust mixed service tyre the Omitrac to suit the company’s varied operations. Commenting on the decision to switch to Goodyear, Martin Hall, Finance Director at Dent Logistics said: “Running a cost efficient fleet is a priority for our business, Goodyear understood this and compiled a package that allows us to really optimise our tyre spend. The Price per Kilometre business model enables us to manage our tyre investment with much greater predictability.
“The length of this deal shows the great level of trust we have in Goodyear’s ability to provide exceptional product performance, alongside the level of service support we need to minimise
downtime through TruckForce.” Commenting on the deal, Marc Preedy, Commercial Director at Goodyear UK & Ireland said:
Gist named as Launch Customer for EFFITRAILER Programme
“This deal is indicative of what we can bring to the table for companies like Dent Logistics – we can provide tyres to deliver a high performance, cost-efficient solution and help enhance a fleet’s customer service through a bespoke TruckForce offer. For me what is really satisfying about this deal is the long-term nature of our relationship, which means we can work strategically together to really add value to Dent Logistics’ overall business.”
Supply chain specialist Gist is aiming to increase its reliability and safety and boost efficiency after signing up as the UK launch customer for Michelin solutions’ new EFFITRAILER programme. EFFITRAILER centres around the installation of dedicated trailer telematics equipment, featuring an on-board datalink, tyre pressure monitoring system and
electronic braking system (EBS) data analysis. Once installed the equipment also enables constant geolocation of every EFFITRAILER-optimised asset in a company’s fleet.
Gist rolled the technology out across 58 tri-axle Gray & Adams double-decker trailers – which will be used on the company’s long-distance trunking routes –
