              VanContact Winter
     New Truck Tyres from Falken
The ContiVanContact 200, with its optimised full silica compound, not only delivers a 15 per cent reduction in rolling resistance, leading to low fuel consumption and greater efficiency, but also delivers shorter braking distances on wet roads. It provides safe handling in all situations, even under heavy loads, thanks to its macro block profile and sturdy tread centre. Continental produces ten sizes that are suitable for rim diameters ranging from 15 to 16 inches.
During cold weather months, Continental offers the VanContact Winter. It provides superior safety characteristics and improved fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor, as well as a substantial 15 per cent reduction in rolling resistance due to its advanced silica compound design which lessens tyre deformation. The VanContact Winter also has improved grip thanks to its advanced sinus sipe structure which
Falken exhibited two new additions to their range of commercial vehicle tyres at the CV Show in Birmingham, the RI 151 steer axle tyre for regional use and the BI 851 drive axle tyre.
The RI 151, designed for use in regional applications, features an innovative compound that
17.5”, 19.5” and 22.5” sizes, offers outstanding all-weather performance and carries the M+S snowflake symbol.
The BI 851 is Falken’s latest generation drive axle tyre, delivering superb traction in all weather conditions. The tyre, designed using Falken’s 4D- Nano Design

guarantees both excellent mileage and enhanced rolling resistance. The tyre also features a new pattern design, which offers excellent directional stability and even wear. The tread incorporates smart stone ejectors, raised elements that prevent stones from lodging in the tyres.
The R151, which is available in
compound, also offers excellent mileage and improved rolling resistance. The newly designed pattern offers lower drive-by noise and even wear, whilst the tough, durable casing is ideal for retreading and regrooving. Again, the BI 851 is available in popular 17.5”, 19.5” and 22.5” sizes.

TyrePal Exhibits New Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
TyrePal was displaying two of its latest fleet monitoring products at this year’s CV Show – the in- cab tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and the TeleTPMS, whilst also launching its new trailer TPMS indicator. Visitors to the show were able to sign up to advanced trials of TyrePal’s teleTPMS, a remote tyre pressure monitoring system for commercial fleet vehicles. TeleTPMS allows drivers and fleet managers to monitor tyre pressures and receive alarms by email or SMS when tyres are over or underinflated and overheating while also providing live updates on the location of monitored vehicles.
“Studies ahow that ten per cent underinflation in tyres increases rolling resistance by five percent, which results in a one per cent increase in fuel consumption,” explained John Pye, consultant at TyrePal. “By maintaining the correct pressure, fleet managers can significantly reduce fuel use and costs, especially when it comes to long haul fleet journeys.
“Breakdowns, blowouts and tyre fires are other unwanted and dangerous consequences of wrongly inflated tyres,”
continued Pye. “Incorrect tyre pressure also causes premature tyre wear. Early warnings from TyrePal’s TeleTPMS can help avoid these risks, which brings additional cost savings and peace of mind to drivers and fleet managers alike.”
TyrePal’s TeleTPMS comprises of a set of sensors, which can be fitted inside or outside the tyres, a dashboard-mounted module that displays the pressure of the vehicle’s tyres for the driver’s benefit. The module also transmits location and tyre data via GPRS to a remote database. The user can access the live data stream using any internet connected device and a secure log-in.
“TeleTPMS also comes in handy for tyre service providers,” added Peter Tillotson, TyrePal’s Business Development Manager. “For companies that usually charge per kilometre covered, rather than by unit, the good health of their tyres is extremely important. Using teleTPMS helps tyre service providers offer the highest level of safety for their customers, while also ensuring the tyres they supply remain operational for as long as possible.”
Continental Tyres Presents Van Tyres Range
Continental offers a diverse range of van tyres which were on display to visitors at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2016.
Continental’s ContiVanContact 100
is an all-round tyre specifically designed with durability in mind, providing exceptional mileage and safety whilst coping with poor road surfaces and heavy usage. Continental has also reduced the rolling resistance of the ContiVanContact 100 by 10 per cent in comparison to its predecessor – a great advantage to transport companies for whom speed and timely delivery are key. Additionally, its reinforced carcass and sturdy sidewall with strong scuff protection strip as well as its stone-deflecting tread design make the tyre particularly robust. The combined attributes of ContiVanContact 100 tyres ensure that these vehicles can run as long and as consistently as possible, with limited maintenance. Continental has 14 sizes available with diameters ranging from 14 to 16 inches.
