included the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the Shard of Glass in London, Heathrow Airport - Terminal Five, the main stadia for the London 2012 Olympics and Paddington Station, London.
Commenting on the acquisition, Bob Hope, chairman of Disc-Lock Europe Ltd said: “I am delighted to be stepping down as chairman of Disc-Lock Europe Ltd after 28 years and handing the reins to TCB, a world leader in the field of bolted systems. Although Disc-Lock Europe has been acquired by TCB, it will continue to operate in its own right as a company. Existing customers will not encounter any disruption to the normal service. Indeed, I will continue to be involved for the foreseeable future to ensure a smooth transfer of
responsibilities.”
Tim Stokes, managing director of Tension Control Bolts Ltd added: “We are very pleased to have acquired Disc-Lock Europe Ltd. It is a well-established brand and a great fit with our existing business. Its range of Disc-Lock washers, nuts and wheel nuts provide a perfect match with our own existing product range of Tension Control Bolts. We are looking forward very much to developing the business and taking it and its products further.”
From July 1, 2015 TCB senior sales engineer Gary Mason will assume the day-to-day running of Disc-Lock Europe and the business will be based at TCB’s headquarters in Wrexham.
Managers at Bandvulc Group and at Tyre Maintenance Ltd can feel rightly pleased with themselves after they all successfully completed and passed the IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ course, a highly credited, respected, and nationally recognised course designed for managers and supervisors. The IOSH Working Safely course is for people in any sector that need a grounding in health and safety.
Tony Mailling, Bandvulc Group Operations Director said, “IOSH is an essential training course for key managers to ensure they manage their staff safely within the company. Our delegates gained a great deal during the week and we’re proud to say that all our attendees passed the final assessment.”
Paul Fields, Director of Sales and Operations at Tyre Maintenance Ltd, commented: “With the increased pressures and responsibilities our managers have within their own branches we needed to ensure they had both the tools and knowledge to competently tackle the health & safety issues they are ultimately responsible for. Whilst our intention for the course was not to turn our managers into safety experts, importantly it was to bring home why health and safety is such an essential part of their job”.

Continental Announces Voluntary Exchange Programme for Truck Tyres
Continental has announced a voluntary tyre exchange programme for approximately 12,000 truck tyres. The tyre in question is a 205/75R17.5 Conti Hybrid LS3, produced from calendar week 27 in 2014 to calendar week 26 in 2015. The product was mainly sold to original equipment manufacturers in Europe and – to a lesser degree – into the replacement market.
As market feedback indicates, in a few exceptional cases, the product showed sudden pressure loss before being put into service. No personal injuries or accidents were reported. Due to the potential risk that another few similar cases may occur in the market, Continental decided to exchange the product. The respective Conti Hybrid steer tyre of size 205/75R17.5 shows the DOT serial numbers HW96 F7T9 2714 to 2615. Customers can identify the
tyres by this lettering on the side wall.
Continental notified the responsible national authorities of the details of the voluntary tyre exchange. The company is in close communication with the respective original equipment customers as well as with its tyre distributors and dealers to identify replacement customers who purchased potentially affected tyres. Owners will be promptly notified and informed about the details of the voluntary program. Replacement tyres and their installation are free of charge for the customer.
Consumers seeking more information, including instructions for identifying affected tyres as well as obtaining replacement tyres, are asked to visit Continental’s web-site at www.continental-truck- tires.com/exchange for more details.
Goodyear´s fuel-efficient truck tyre range, FUELMAX, has been tested by German fleet Spedition Bartkowiak under practical conditions. The results of the extensive tyre comparison test by the Hildesheim-based transport company are claimed to prove the fuel saving potential of FUELMAX tyres: Compared to the fuel-efficient truck tyres of another premium brand, Goodyear FUELMAX truck tyres saved up to 1.6 litres per 100 kilometres. Based on these results, Goodyear FUELMAX tyres are now playing a critical role in the fleet’s project to reduce overall fuel consumption to 20 litres per 100 kilometres or less by 2020. Spedition Bartkowiak has employed consulting firm hi-
consulting to implement the so- called ‘20-20-20’ project. This involves equipping a truck and trailer combination with fuel consumption reducing measures to cut overall consumption to no more than 20 litres per 100 kilometres. "During our intensive comparative tyre test, 320,000 km were covered on public roads by different drivers using serial
Goodyear FUELMAX and another premium brand of ‘eco tyres’. On the three vehicles used, FUELMAX tyres recorded fuel consumption savings of 1.2, 1.5 and 1.6 litres/100 kilometres compared with the other tyres," explained Andreas Manke, consultant at hi-consulting and fleet manager of Spedition Bartkowiak. “These are enormous savings. Due to this clear result, we are currently equipping the entire Bartkowiak fleet progressively with FUELMAX tyres.
We are also running the ‘20-20-20’ tests exclusively on FUELMAX tyres with Goodyear KMAX tyres on the trailer lift axle."
