GT Radial GSR225 Combi Road Range Expanded
Giti Tire has expanded its GT Radial GSR225 Combi Road multi-use steer axle range with three new 19.5” sizes, as well as upgrading the load index for its next generation 22.5” tyres. Available now for order throughout Europe, 245/70R19.5, 265/70R19.5 and 285/70R19.5 options have been
315/80R22.5 have seen an increase in load index capacity up to 158/150L to further meet Euro VI requirements. Designed to perform in both regional and long-haul operations, the high- performance GSR225 Combi Road has specially developed tread and base compounds to deliver exceptional mileage and regular wear, as well as an optimised road surface footprint to deliver excellent wet and dry handling. A revised groove design claims added stone ejection properties and increased general protection against tearing and curbing, especially when subjected to regular and aggressive regional use. Tony McHugh, TBR Sales and Marketing Director UK at Giti Tire, said: “The GSR225 Combi Road was our first multi-use tyre when launched in late 2013, since when it has become one of the biggest sellers in our 22.5” truck and bus portfolio.
“We worked in partnership with leading hauliers and coach operators to realise the initial design, and we have done so again in conjunction with our global R&D platforms to improve the next generation tyres still further.
“The extension into the 19.5” category has been done to meet demand from throughout Europe for a truly multi- use GT Radial option for smaller commercial vehicles and coaches, and we genuinely believe it will have the same substantial impact in this vehicle sector.”

Like all tyres in the Conti Hybrid family, both new trailer tyres have been designed to work with the trusted ContiLifeCycle solutions. Special indicators in the tread of the premium casing display the regrooving depth. In addition, the
casings of the Conti Hybrid HT3 435/50 R 19.5 and Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 feature the patented AirKeep® inner liner to prevent creeping pressure loss. The steel cord bead chafer and the new rubber coating compound of the belt optimise the retreadability of the tyres.

Director Role
Michelin Tyre plc has appointed Guy Heywood, 48, as Commercial Director of its operations in the UK and Republic of Ireland. He retains his position as head of Michelin’s truck and bus division, which he has held since 2012.

Michelin’s headquarters in Clermont- Ferrand, France. In addition, Heywood will oversee relationships with some of the largest customers in the UK and Ireland, which utilise a broad range of Michelin products.
As well as his roles within Michelin, Heywood is also a Director of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and an Ambassador for Transaid, the official charity of the road transport and logistics industry.
Heywood is married with two children and will continue to be based at Michelin’s UK head office in Stoke-on-Trent.
In weight-intensive volume transport, optimising every last cubic metre of loading space is essential. Continental has developed new trailer tyres especially for mega liners, which help maximize the permitted total height of four metres. The Conti Hybrid HT3 435/50 R 19.5 is the latest addition to the Continental portfolio. The new trailer tyres, in sizes 435/50 R 19.5 and 445/45 R 19.5, are characterised by a high load capacity and optimal service life, combined with a lower diameter. Like comparable 22.5" format tyres, the new Conti Hybrid 435/50 R 19.5 and Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 allow an axle load of 9 tonnes. At the same time they allow the best use of the 3- meter internal load height, when used on the semitrailers of mega liners. Their optimised tyre contours and balanced load distribution give the trailer tyres an even wear pattern, which helps ensure a long service life. The developers have also
succeeded in cutting the rolling resistance of the new trailer tyres by 15 percent compared with their predecessor. As a result, both tyres have been classified a "B" for fuel efficiency under the EU tyre label system. The Conti Hybrid HT3 435/50 R 19.5 and Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 reduce fuel consumption in both regional and long-distance transportation.
The new tyre contour and tread design make the trailer tyres particularly robust, especially in the shoulder area. Together with the "Plus Volume Pattern," which is characterised by the high volume of rubber on the tread, these features ensure a long service life with even wear. The optimised design of the inner tread grooves prevents stones from getting trapped. The external tread grooves are designed to be particularly robust, to optimise the tyre life.
