Michelin solutions Launches ‘EFFITIRESTM with Fuel Commitment
Michelin solutions has announced the launch of a new pan-European offer for road transport fleets, which sees the company’s price per kilometre (PPK) tyre management contracts offered with a contractual fuel saving commitment for the first
breakdowns – with a promise to arrive on the scene within two hours of receiving a call-out.
Michelin solutions draws upon a wealth of expertise from its work on more than 300,000 vehicles across Europe, managed by a team of 800
time. The new solution – ‘EFFITIRESTM with fuel commitment’ – is designed to make both hauliers’ and own-account operators’ fleets more efficient, by combining outsourced tyre procurement and expert tyre management with a commitment to saving fuel.
The fuel commitment is generated following a custom audit of the fleet conducted by Michelin solutions to evaluate its operational condition and the nature of the fleet’s work. To be eligible for this new offer the customer must have equipped at least 70 per cent of its fleet with a telematics system and commit to fitting vehicles covered under the contract with energy-efficient Michelin tyres. In the event of the contractual savings not being attained, Michelin solutions will reimburse the operator for the unrealised savings on a pro rata basis.
Paul Davey, Commercial Director of Michelin solutions in the UK and Republic of Ireland, says: "We are confident our new ‘EFFITIRESTM with fuel commitment’ solution will allow customers to create value while focusing on their core business. By combining our know-how with Michelin's expertise in low rolling-resistance truck tyres, we can offer a seriously strong fuel saving proposition.”
An ‘EFFITIRESTM with fuel commitment’ contract can also help fleets extend tyre life and increase uptime, plus includes 24-hour roadside assistance for tyre-related
tyre experts. Established as a new company within the Michelin Group in May 2013, Michelin solutions is the only major player on the market offering a fuel saving commitment based on results. It has already enabled fleets under contract to save an average of 1.5 litres of diesel per 100 km, per vehicle. Extrapolated to take account of the 2.5 million long-distance trucks operating in Europe, this offers potential annual savings of 3,375 million litres of fuel and a reduction of 9 million tonnes of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere, along with €3,375 million worth of value creation for the road transport industry.
The introduction of EFFITIRES with furl commitment now means that Michelin solutions has a three way offering for fleets to manage their assets more efficiently. EFFIFUEL is aimed at managing a fleet’s fuel consumption, EFFITIRES at managing tyre budgets, while the new product combines the management of both fuel and tyres in a new top-of-the-range system. The company will also soon be launching EFFITRAILER, which is a solution for the management of a fleet’s trailers.
During the CV show Michelin solutions were also launching their website at www.michelin- solutions.com, which details all the company’s key solutions.
Expanded Truck Range from Sailun
Sailun were present at the CV Show with their UK distributor Kirkby Tyres showing an expended range of commercial vehicle tyres.
In particular, the company was introducing two new drive patterns, S701 and S702
S701 is a long haul drive tyre available in six sizes. It offers excellent abrasion performance and features three longitudinal grooves for handling stability and ride
comfort. Additional features include an open shoulder design and horizontal pattern for improved driving and braking performance, a wide tread surface for reduced load pressure and increased driving stability, and a variable pitch tread and narrow horizontal grooves for reduced noise.
The S702 is a regional drive tyre available in 12 sizes. It offers high wear resistance and low heat generation for excellent service life. The tyre offers good grip performance whilst reinforcement ribs enhance the connection between pattern blocks thereby reducing block movement and reducing irregular wear.
