Falken Sponsors Super League
First Utility Super League and Falken Tyre Europe have entered into an exciting new partnership that will see the Japanese tyre manufacturer become an official partner of the UK’s elite Rugby League competition.
Falken Tyre Europe’s first association with Rugby League will initially see their branding at all major games with further exposure set to be announced during the season.
RFL Commercial Director Chris Rawlings said: “This is Falken’s first time committing to sponsoring a sport outside of its traditional motorsport activities and we are delighted that a growing international brand is now an
official partner of the First Utility Super League.
“Their attributes of no nonsense and durability will resonate well with our own growing fan base who appreciate value week in, week out.” Falken’s Director Matt Smith said: “Rugby League offers Falken a chance to reach a broad range of enthusiastic fans relevant to our product range.
“We wanted a trusted sport whose values such as passion matched our own and in conjunction with Elonex Sports PLC, Rugby League was the perfect fit. The sport is renowned for being an approachable, friendly, team game and we look forward to being part of this family sport.”
Snel Logistic Solutions Saves with Goodyear FUELMAX
At the request of Goodyear, the Netherlands based transport company Snel Logistic Solutions took part in a comprehensive tyre comparison trial earlier this year. The initial internal results with tractors fitted with FUELMAX tyres show that the fuel saving is one litre per 100 kilometres compared to the other tyres in the test.
For the trial, two tractors from Snel Logistic Solutions were equipped with Goodyear FUELMAX S on the steer axel and FUELMAX D on the drive axle and two tractors with another premium brand. Since February 2014, each vehicle has
and external monitoring. Equally important for the test is the route between Spa and Weert. "Our office in Weert is the Dutch distribution centre for the Spa brand. We have a special shuttle operation comprising four trucks (4 x Scania R400 with Euro 5 engines). Every day the vehicles travel between the two locations, always using the same route with the same drivers. In short, it is the ideal test scenario. It is also recognised as such by truck manufacturers, who have asked us to test their Euro 6 vehicles,” explains Peter Snel.

Tructyre Fleet Management has awarded CAM its prestigious ‘Supplier of the Year’ title for the first time after receiving over 72 per cent of the votes from the senior management team. CAM was one of nine companies nominated for the awards, which have been running for the past fourteen years. Its success was based on several initiatives CAM introduced into Tructyre over the past year including Cameo 25, which delivered improvements to stock control; CAM GL, which facilitated accounts and purchase ledger; the e-Tablet solution delivering efficiencies for mobile fitters; and CAM Intelligence, which enables business owners to view and
ahead of other nominees. The company has worked really hard in 2014 to meet the needs of the business and the industry as a whole. We have been working with CAM for 19 years and in that time the business has really turned around its service. It was integral to our head office move last year and integrating depots based in the East, and has undoubtedly helped us move the business forward.”
covered approximately 145,000 kilometres and the first results measured by the fleet speak for themselves. "To be clear, the test is still running and we will judge the results at the end when we have an understanding of the total cost. But what is true so far is that the trucks with the new Goodyear tyres are best with regards to fuel consumption in this test. The difference is quite significant. With the FUELMAX our tractors are consuming on average one litre less of fuel per 100 kilometres. In that respect it looks good for FUELMAX," says Peter Snel, Fleet Manager at Snel Logistic Solutions. The company is considered as a forerunner in the field of innovation and quality. It uses new vehicles and utilises sophisticated internal
Snel Logistic Solutions focuses primarily on fast moving consumer goods. The company, with some 200 drivers, believes in the combination of transport and logistics. The Netherlands based company helps customers reduce their costs from the start of production to the delivery of the finished goods. “Our own costs have been largely kept under scrutiny and optimised where possible. One big advantage we have is the driving module in our on-board computer. This is a constant resource to help optimise driving and it allows us to closely follow the drivers’ driving styles," said Peter Snel.
