Michelin to Highlight New 17.5” and 19.5” Tyres
Michelin is planning its largest ever display of 17.5” and 19.5” tyres at this year’s CV Show, following the roll-out of additional sizes and tread patterns in its all-new X Multi range. Six of the new tyres will feature on Michelin’s 144m2 stand in Hall 5, including three multi-position and three drive patterns – each safer, more fuel-efficient,
quieter and longer- lasting than the ten year old XDE2s they replace.
The new range is
purpose-designed for
small and medium
trucks from 7.5 to 16
tonnes, as well as midi
coaches. The new
tyres are designed to
offer total performance
year-round on all
types of road thanks
to their 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake) certification, awarded following tests in defined snowy conditions. The accreditation shows the tyre has passed the “snow grip index” requirements – standards not necessarily met by tyres simply labelled M+S (Mud and Snow).
Full-depth sipes ensure excellent handling from the first to the last kilometre, whilst new tyre architecture delivers an average 5dB reduction in noise across the range. This makes the new X Multi fitments around 50 per cent quieter than the previous generation – enhancing their suitability for out of hours delivery vehicles and passenger transport.
Chris Smith, Head of Truck Marketing at Michelin Tyre plc, explains: “The introduction of the new X Multi range gained real traction at the end of 2014 with an influx of new sizes – and there’s more on the way in March.
“With our brand new 17.5” and 19.5” tyre range very nearly
complete, it makes perfect sense to put them under the spotlight at the biggest industry event of 2015.” Also expected to attract significant attention will be the all-new 385/65 R 22.5 Michelin X Line Energy F. Available from February 2015, it opens access to Michelin’s latest generation long distance fuel-saving tyres to those heavy truck fleets running super single steer tyres.
In total Michelin plans to display at least 12 commercial vehicle tyres on its stand, spanning its complete range of long-distance, regional, urban and on/off-road commercial vehicle tyres – each purpose- designed to offer the lowest total cost of ownership.
ATS Euromaster to Launch Little Gold Book
ATS Euromaster will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the CV Show 2015 with the launch of a guidebook for fleet managers summarising its five decades of industry expertise. Dubbed the ‘Little Gold Book’, it will be packed full of essential information to help van and
celebratory 50th birthday cupcakes. There will also be an extra-special birthday cake on display and prizes to be won. ATS Euromaster has increased the size of its stand by 25 per cent this year to mark its golden anniversary. Group Sales Director Peter Fairlie says the additional
truck fleet operators target improvements in cost control, uptime and productivity. The booklet will be available free of charge from ATS Euromaster’s stand (4D10), along with
investment in the CV Show is a combination of celebrating the firm’s achievements since 1965, and rising confidence in the market.
Goodyear to Showcase Secrets to Lowering Total Cost of Ownership
Goodyear is returning to the Commercial Vehicle Show for the second year running. Following the successful launch of the company’s KMax and FuelMax products, the Goodyear stand will showcase how the manufacturer works in partnership with the businesses it services to help lower their total cost of ownership.
The Goodyear KMax range, as the name implies, has been developed for improved mileage performance, while not compromising on other important criteria such as fuel efficiency and traction. Likewise the Goodyear FuelMax range is for the operator seeking to optimise fuel efficiency combined with good mileage.
In 2014, the FuelMax tyre achieved top ratings in tests conducted by internationally
renowned automotive testing company TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH. When comparing the rolling resistance against tyres from leading competitors, the FuelMax could save a typical fleet an estimated £1,3001 of fuel costs per vehicle, per year.
The stand in 2015 will also feature Goodyear’s premium retreads TreadMax. These tyres are produced locally at Goodyear’s retreading factory in Wolverhampton.
Although Goodyear will not be launching anything new on their stand, they will have plenty to talk about, not least the progress they have made in signing up a number of key fleets including Eddie Stobart, Elddis, DHL and Turners of Soham.
