     CV SHOW PREVIEW
Bridgestone Offers Urban Bus Solution with New U-AP 001
Goodyear Says
“We Take You Further”
Bridgestone has announced that it is now able to offer an innovative solution to urban bus and coach transport, courtesy of its new U-AP 001 tyre. The ‘all position’ tyre, which has been developed with city environments in mind, will be available in the UK in April and incorporates a number of key benefits.
These include a low cost per kilometre and high safety throughout the tyre’s total lifecycle
as well as a robust high-value casing for longer life and higher retreadability. The new tyre also provides thick sidewall protection to minimise damage from kerbs and other road hazards, a high load capacity to cope with the latest EURO 6 regulations and an all- season performance capability.
Andy Mathias, TBR Marketing Manager for UK & Ireland commented; “The U-AP 001 has an improved casing versus the highly successful and durable R192 275/70R22.5. The overall benefits are excellent casing durability and retreadability, extended tyre life and a tyre that is built for multiple lives courtesy of our Bandag retreading offering.”
The U-AP 001 tread design features ‘Variable Depth Sipes’, which give a higher density of siping in the tread. This increases traction, handling and wet and winter performance. Meanwhile a side guard protects casings against sidewall damage from kerbs and other road hazards, thus resulting in longer life. The tyre will also arrive on the market with an M+S and Alpine symbol marking.
Following the successful launch of its new KMax and FuelMax products in September, Goodyear’s dedicated stand at the CV Show will highlight the ability of these products and its service development programmes to support customers in their businesses to be more successful. The Goodyear KMAX range, as the name implies, has been developed for improved mileage performance, while not compromising on other important criteria such as fuel efficiency and traction. Likewise, the Goodyear FUELMAX range is for
the operator seeking to optimise fuel efficiency
combined with
good mileage.
With many fleet operators mindful of keeping costs low, Goodyear acknowledges that fuel efficient tyres are very much in demand and believe that their FuelMax tyre can offer substantial savings to fleets.
Marc Preedy, Commercial Director at Goodyear said: “The Goodyear FuelMax tyre is a perfect example of our ability to decrease a fleets cost of ownership. The steer tyre was awarded an A-grade in fuel economy, the first in the market - an achievement we are very proud of. Label grades can point to considerable fuel savings for fleets. For example, when you compare the amount you can save on fleet of 50 trucks that have the FuelMax tyre, instead of that of an EU Tyre Label D-grade rating you are looking at savings in excess of £200,000.”
