After a very strong 2021 with 10 months of increases, the first month of 2022 sees a fall of 13.8%, compared to January 2021, according to figures from the AEA (Agricultural Engineer’s Association).
Drop in Registrations for 2022 Following Year of Recovery in 2021
In a strong year of recovery for the industry in 2021, the 500 tractors registered for 2022 almost matches exactly 2020’s 501 sales in January, which was a 27.6% decrease against 2019. In January 2021, there were 580 sales of tractors above 50hp, which makes for a 13.8% decrease for this year’s year-to-date sales.
With 2021 recording a 15.8% year-on-year increase, this was a healthy return to form for an industry that was nevertheless seeing disruptions,which are continuing into this year, which may in part explain the drop which has started off 2022.
