The latest figures from the Agricultural Engineers’ Association for May make for pleasant reading for the UK market as year-on-year figures show a healthy increase on 2020’s figures.
74.8% Year-on-Year Increase for Tractor Registrations
May 2021 saw a 74.8% increase compared to 2020 for tractor registrations above 50HP as 1,103 units were sold in the UK, marking the second consecutive month that over 1,000 tractors were registered. It must be said that the huge increase can be explained by the fact that in May 2020 the UK was still in the middle of its first lockdown.
Reaching 1,103 units, though, does represent a positive outcome when we look at the figures from 2019, when 1,008 units were sold, thus representing a return to previous levels of business.
The healthy performance of the new tractor market will be positive news for the OE agricultural tyre market, underlining that farmers and contractors are willing to invest in their equipment and businesses as we emerge from the pandemic.
