The agricultural sector in the United Kingdom began the new year with a subdued note as tractor registrations witnessed a decline in January, according to the latest figures from the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA). With just 475 units registered in January, the figures represent a notable decrease of 26.2% compared to the same month in the previous year.
AEA Publishes January Registration Figures
“As is usually the case, registrations of agricultural tractors started the year slowly, with just 475 machines logged in January. That is 26% fewer than in the same month last year and is one of the lowest figures for the opening month seen in recent years,” stated the AEA.
While the drop in registrations may seem significant, it’s important to note that figures in the agricultural sector have been known to fluctuate from month to month which was also underlined the AEA communication on their website. Therefore, drawing concrete conclusions about the trajectory of the industry for the remainder of the year based solely on January’s figures might be premature.
