The Swedish Transport Agency has since brought positive news by granting an exception that enables compliance with the new rules until the end of January 2024.
Registrations continued increasing in August
According to Mobility Sweden the automotive manufacturer’s association for Sweden, there was a near quadrupling of heavy truck registrations in August compared to the same month last year. The explanation for this is that the EU introduced requirements for a new version of tachograph from 21 August. Lack of these units together with the uncertainty surrounding the authorities’ handling of these requirements led to many choosing to bring their deliveries earlier.
Light truck registrations also continue to increase, in August the increase amounted to 32 percent compared to the same month in 2022. This increase is driven by companies’ need to renew their vehicle fleets and lower their operating costs. Almost every fourth new registration was an electric vehicle.
295 new buses were registered in August, an increase of about 43 percent compared to the same month last year, a trend driven by public procurement of city buses. Close to 17 percent were electric buses.
