PRINX Chengshan Offers “EUDR-Ready” Tyres

Prinx Chengshan EUDR Ready

Since the beginning of September, tyre manufacturer PRINX Chengshan has only been using ‘EUDR-ready’ natural rubber

PRINX Chengshan is moving forward with sustainable “EUDR-ready” tyres

The advent of European deforestation regulations under EUDR is sure to have an impact on the tyre market as manufacturers will have to get independent certification that their products are sourced from EUDR complaint origins.

Th move by PRINX Chengshan means that the environmentally friendly manufacturer has reacted to the regulation much earlier than it should have. The official deadline from the EU is December 30, 2024. Though there is ongoing discussion about delaying the implementation until later in 2025 to allow some manufacturers to establish EUDR compliant feedstock.

PRINX Chengshan is already making the switch months earlier, proving once again how serious the company is about sustainability. The certification of its natural rubber is another milestone for the tyre manufacturer, which claims to have been one of the greenest in the world for years.

At the beginning of September, production and imports for the European market were switched to 100 per cent EUDR-certified tyres.

“The certificate, which requires extreme transparency in the supply chain, underlines our unwavering commitment to the environment, regulatory compliance and the highest quality,” emphasises David Oliva, Marketing Manager of PRINX Europe.

“As the European subsidiary of one of the most environmentally friendly tyre manufacturers in the world, we are very proud to maintain our high standards while continuously reducing the global carbon footprint.”

One of the anticipated outcomes of EUDR is that, if it is policed and certificates are validated as opposed to be presented by manufacturers as they do tyre labelling, that it will reduce the volume of low quality tyres from non-compliant tyres flooding the European market. Of course, the UK is not party to EUDR, and at this point has no equivalent legislation.
