NEWS Shell, Bio-bean and Coffee-Drinkers Join Up to Fuel London's Buses The current agreement between SJI Europe and Kirkby Tyres for the UK distribution of Sailun truck tyres will be unaffected and will continue. Jinyu tyres have been distributed in the UK by Bond International for nearly 10 years. With a fully- integrated and dynamic dealer support programme for the brand, Jinyu is now sold through a network of over 250 nationwide tyre retail outlets. There is a strong brand acceptance and recognition throughout the network – as a consequence of this successful programme and year-on-year growth, there will be no change to the distribution of Jinyu in the UK. The SJI Europe strategic review has concluded that Bond International will be the future UK distributors for Blacklion – as well as Jinyu. As an alternative brand, and with optional patterns and sizes, there is significant opportunity for substantial market share growth for the Blacklion brand. Charlie Bond, Sales Director, Bond International commented; “The Jinyu brand has grown every year over the last 10 years – we see no reason why this cannot continue. We are delighted to add the exciting and impressive Blacklion range to our brand portfolio. In a competitive marketplace Blacklion, fits perfectly within our product range.” Additionally, Sailun Jinyu announced that they will be gradually repositioning the Rovelo brand throughout Europe. In conclusion, Chen Huang, Managing Director of SJI Europe, added; “The UK is a very challenging market for all tyre brands. By conducting our strategic review, we have recognised areas of inefficiency and have recognised areas where improvements can be made. By appointing both Viking Wholesale Tyres and Bond International, we are confident we are working with established professional distribution partners, who each complement the brands they will be working with. We will offer them both our ongoing long-term support in all areas, and we look forward to mutually- beneficial long-term relationships with each of them.” Shell and Bio-bean have announced that together they are collaborating to power some of London’s buses through the utilisation of a biofuel made partly from waste coffee grounds, according to a report by the Digital News Agency, The B20 biofuel contains a 20% bio- high street chains and factories. Stamp Transport, which operates a fleet of 40 trucks and 50 trailers, has been in operation since 1992 and provides fresh food, pharmaceutical and general haulage solutions for national domestic and international customers, from its site in Enniscorthy, Wexford. Michelin says its newest regional drive pattern tyres increase mileage potential by as much as 20 per cent versus the previous X MultiWay 3D XDE fitments, which covered 430,000km for the Wexford-based haulier before being replaced. The new tyres have impressive innovations, including Powercoil, a new generation of robust steel casing cables which helps to make the tyres lighter but more durable, and Regenion tread technology that progressively reveals hidden grooves to maintain grip throughout the life of the tyre. Myles Stamp, Owner of Stamp Transport, says: “We specify Michelin as original equipment on all our vehicles and we receive impressive results every time. It’s still very early days for the new X Multi D fitments, but we are confident these tyres will set a new record mileage for our fleet.” Myles Stamp, Owner of Stamp Transport, is confident that the new Michelin X Multi D fitments will set a new record mileage for the fleet Source: Digital News Agency component which contains part coffee oil. The biofuel is being added to the London bus fuel supply chain and will help to power some of the buses; without need for modification. According to the Digital News Agency, the average Londoner drinks 2.3 cups of coffee a day, which leads to approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste a year, much of which would otherwise end in landfill with the potential to emit 126million kg of CO2. Bio-bean works to collect some of these waste coffee grounds from Chair, said in an article published by the Digital News Agency: “When it comes to clean energy, we are always looking for the next inventive solution. A good idea can come from anywhere, but with the scale and commitment of Shell, we can help enable true progress. We're pleased to be able to support bio-bean to trial this innovative new energy solution which can help to power buses, keeping Londoners moving around the city - powered in part by their waste coffee grounds.” Sailun Jinyu Enhances UK Distribution Strategy Following a major strategic review of its UK distribution operations, Sailun Jinyu International Europe (SJI Europe) has announced a number of enhancements and improvements.
