  Michelin Continue to Press Forward in Bus and Coach Sector
Michelin has been particularly active in the bus and coach market over the last 6 months, with the company appointing key personnel and continuing to spread the popularity of its new online portal Michelin MyAccount by signing up new clients.
Firstly, with regards to appointments, Kevin Lawton has been installed as UK and Republic of Ireland Bus and Coach Sales Manager for Michelin solutions. This follows a
six-year stint as UK Operations manager at Michelin Fleet Solutions, before continuing with the same role when Michelin solutions was launched in 2013. The role will see Lawton working closely with Michelin solutions’ customers to ensure a high quality of service across the company’s 32,000 contracted bus and coach assets. He will also focus on extending the company’s tyre management solutions to prospective
customers.
Commenting on his new position, Lawton says: “The bus and coach industry is set for a seismic shift in the years ahead, as hybrid propulsion gradually takes over from traditional diesel engines, and fully-electric buses become the norm. As such, Michelin’s bus and coach tyre technologies and our fully- managed service provision needs to evolve in harmony.”
In addition to this, Michelin have signed up C&J Coach Tours to its online portal, Michelin MyAccount. Operating from its base in Chelmsford, Essex, C&J Coach Tours is an established company offering day excursions around the UK, coach holidays to mainland Europe and coach hire services and is using the service to reduce its annual tyre spend.
MyAccount was designed to support commercial vehicle customers across the UK, allowing operators to participate in promotions of their choice, and access cashback promotions, which are paid directly into bank accounts.
Dave Houghton, Company Director of C&J Coach Tours says: “MyAccount is helping us to save both time and money on our tyres. All of our invoicing is consolidated in one place, and we’re kept informed about any Michelin promotions that would benefit us.”
Chris Smith, Head of Bus and Truck Marketing at Michelin Tyre plc, says: “Every customer is important to us, from national fleets running hundreds of vehicles to smaller owner-
operators like C&J Coach Tours. The launch of MyAccount allows these smaller businesses to unlock the same service and opportunities on offer from Michelin, regardless of fleet size.”
