C&J Coach Reduces Tyre Spend with Michelin MyAccount
equipped with Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC). Weight-optimised Krone Eco semitrailers, which are also available on the market, were used and fitted with aerodynamic equipment to reduce drag. The truck tyres used were 315/70R22.5 Goodyear FUELMAX S on the front axles, 315/70R22.5 Goodyear FUELMAX D on the drive axle and 385/55R22.5 Goodyear FUELMAX T on the trailer axles.

Director OE Sales Truck Tyres Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa. “The results from Efficiency Run 2015 show clearly that fleets can reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by using equipment that is available on the market today. Simply choosing premium low rolling resistance truck tyres like FUELMAX can have a huge positive impact. Another example of this was demonstrated by internal tests carried out by German fleet Spedition Bartkowiak.
C&J Coach Tours has signed up to Michelin’s new online portal – Michelin MyAccount – and is using the service to reduce its annual tyre spend.
The owner-operator coach tour and holiday company subscribed to the free resource on recommendation of its local ATS Euromaster branch in Colchester, which handles its tyre fitments and servicing. Since then the company has benefited from extra support from Michelin, including offers and additional services. MyAccount was designed to support commercial vehicle customers across the UK, allowing operators to participate in promotions of their choice, and access cashback promotions, which are paid directly into bank accounts.
Dave Houghton, Company Director of C&J Coach Tours says: “MyAccount is
helping us to save both time and money on our tyres. All of our invoicing is consolidated in one place and we’re kept informed about any Michelin promotions that would benefit us.”
The company has a Michelin tyre policy on its Setra coach, which travels up to 55,000km each year, transporting customers on day tours and holidays across the UK and on to the continent.
Chris Smith, Head of Bus and Truck Marketing at Michelin Tyre plc, says: “Every customer is important to us, from national fleets running hundreds of vehicles to smaller owner-operators like C&J Coach Tours. The launch of MyAccount allows these smaller businesses to unlock the same service and opportunities on offer from Michelin, regardless of fleet size.”
percent less fuel than standard semi- trailer combinations from the respective transport companies based on their 2014 figures.
"We are delighted that our fuel efficient Goodyear FUELMAX truck tyres were chosen for the Efficiency Run project,” said Peter Platje,
Their results confirmed a fuel saving potential of up to 1.6 litres per 100 kilometers per truck with Goodyear FUELMAX tyres. Combined with other technologies the reduction is even higher as demonstrated by Mercedes-Benz in their Efficiency Run 2015.”
Zenises Foundation Aids South African School
To help raise awareness of global hunger and support communities close to its South African business, the Zenises Foundation started working in November 2015 with Please (Products Leading Economic and Social Empowerment) to undertake a ‘Pot Drop’ at the Kiddies’ Paradise School in Johannesburg.
These 65 children will be provided with a nutritious breakfast every school day for the next 12 months. Zenises worked with Please to develop a recipe where the required nutrients for the
whole day are provided to the child in one tasty porridge breakfast.
Zenises believes business can be a platform for economic and social change through sustainable and community-driven initiatives and hopes the local actions it encourages and supports will help to support future generations.

Goodyear Contributes to Savings in Mercedes-Benz Efficiency Run 2015
Goodyear rolling resistance optimised FUELMAX tyres on trucks taking part in the Mercedes-Benz Efficiency Run 2015 contributed to an overall reduction in fuel consumption of up to 14%. Efficiency Run 2015 was organised by leading truck manufacturer Mercedes-Benz to show that fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced and operating costs lowered if optimisation focuses not just on the engine but the vehicle as a whole. The run further
concentrated on using equipment that is currently available on the market like the fuel efficient Goodyear FUELMAX truck tyres to show what can be achieved today. Transport companies DB Schenker Logistics and Grosse-Vehne took part in the tests using standard semi-trailer combinations equipped with Goodyear FUELMAX truck tyres. The tractor units were a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1842 and an Actros 1845 optimised exclusively using components that are currently available on the market and
