      TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING
Bridgestone: Leading the Way in Commercial Vehicle Safety
that tyres running at low pressure increase fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emissions. For example, a tyre with a recommended pressure of 9 bar will use 5% more fuel when running at 7 bar. Bridgestone’s commercial product and marketing manager Andy Mathias, said: “From internal studies we can see that fleets have on average up to 25% of tyres running with pressure at least 10% below recommended levels and up to 5% with
three tyre management pillars: Total Tyre Life, Total Tyre Services and Total Tyre Systems. “Total Tyre Care is designed to let fleets concentrate on their core business and take the
worr y out of tyre management, knowing that Bridgestone is minimizing their tyre costs” says Harald Van Ooteghem, Senior Manager, Marketing Planning, Commercial Business Unit, Bridgestone Europe.
Total Tyre Care is available in two customizable contracts –
Bridgestone’s innovative tyre pressure monitoring systems, coupled with the introduction of its acclaimed tyre care management programme, suggests that the company continues to maintain a leadership position in commercial vehicle safety.
TPMS has been rolled out across the UK in order to provide a more thorough pressure
maintenance service to contract fleet customers.
It sits within Bridgestone’s Total Tyre Care maintenance service for fleet customers, which aims to cut tyre bills dramatically while maximising performance. Two main benefits for the fleet are optimal fuel consumption and reduced breakdowns. Bridgestone’s TPMS offering was developed after studies revealed
pressure at least 20% below. “With this ‘average’ pressure condition, fleet fuel consumption would be 0.6% higher than if all tyres were running at recommended pressure levels.”
The Bridgestone TPMS system can often detect slow leaks due to penetrations, allowing an on- site repair to be made and so avoiding the high cost of a roadside breakdown.
The system comprises a valve- mounted sensor, a receiver gate mounted at the fleet site, a cloud-based data system and the tyre service provider.
TPMS sits within Bridgestone’s Total Tyre Care programme, which will offer a host of safety solutions for the Commercial Vehicle industry.
Under Total Tyre Care, businesses can keep tight control over tyre-related costs, courtesy of a hat-trick of services which have been tailored to meet the needs of every fleet operator.
The offering is built around
the all-in fixed price/km Comfort4Fleet and the on- demand, itemized Flex4Fleet approach – enabling fleet operators to choose the most suitable solution for their individual needs.
Total Tyre Life aims to maximize tyre life, thereby reducing tyre cost/km over the entire lifecycle, through the supply of Bridgestone premium new tyres and Bandag retreads.
Total Tyre Services is the package that keeps a fleet’s trucks on the road and running at maximum efficiency. The system includes ever ything a fleet needs, from fleet tyre inspections to professional technical advice on keeping tyres in top condition, maximizing their total tyre life Total Tyre Systems is the third pillar of the programme, designed to give fleet operators clear visibility of their tyres’ condition at all times, featuring TPMS.
