Goodyear’s FUELMAX Comes Up Best in TÜV SÜD Test
Goodyear’s recently launched fuel- efficient line of low rolling resistance truck tyres, FUELMAX, has achieved top ratings in tests conducted by TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH, the internationally renowned automotive testing company, who analysed and compared the rolling resistance of steer and drive tyres from the FUELMAX range to tyres of a similar nature from three main competitors. These test results were separated into three distinct areas – steer, drive and trailer tyres. In all tests Goodyear says its FUELMAX and Marathon LHT II tyres significantly outperformed its competitors.
Using the results gathered from the rolling resistance tests, Goodyear calculated that the FUELMAX tyres combined with Goodyear’s fuel-efficient trailer tyre Marathon LHT II could save a typical fleet £1,300 in fuel costs
per year per vehicle, in comparison to the next best competitor tested, and over £1,600 when compared to the average. Goodyear says that the exceptional fuel saving performance of its FUELMAX tyres can be seen in the company’s particularly good EU tyre label ratings for Fuel Efficiency. At this time, six out of seven of the currently available Goodyear FUELMAX fuel efficiency line tyres have acquired label gradings of A or B.
Marc Preedy, the Commercial Director of Goodyear UK said, “These tests really illustrate the outstanding fuel economy our new FUELMAX tyres offer to fleet operators, helping them to reduce costs. FUELMAX tyres are the most fuel efficient in the Goodyear range and these results underline our belief that they are the most fuel efficient tyres on the market today.”
