According to data obtained by the National Association of Tyre Distributors and Importers in Spain (ADINE) and issued by the Spanish Tax Office, imports of Asian tyres significantly increased in 2022 compared to the same period of 2021.
Tyre Imports from Asia Continued to Increase Troughout 2022
Imports of truck tyres experienced in this period a growth of 42.1%, compared to the same period of 2021, with a total of 394,560 units imported, of which imports from Vietnam (+66.5%), Thailand (+79.9%) and Japan (+71.4%) stand out especially during the period up to September.
On the other hand, imports of agricultural tyres experienced a decrease of 5.4% at the end of September compared to the same period last year, with a total of 184,890 units imported, of which 92,160 units (50%) came mainly from India. Finally, imports of Asian construction, and mining tyres also accumulated between January-September an increase of 5.4%, compared to the same period last year, with a total of 105,560 units imported, of which around 42,670 units (40%) came from India and some 35,380 units (34%) came from China.
September 2022 in Figures
Imports of truck tyres recorded an increase of 32.1% compared to the same month last year, with a total of 41,070 units imported, with imports from China (+53.4%), Thailand (+34.8%) and Japan (+181.8%) standing out.
On the other hand, imports of agricultural tyres increased by 27.7% in September compared to the same period last year, with a total of 25,470 units imported, of which 47% (11,980 units) came mostly from India.
And finally, imports of Asian mining and construction tyres increased considerably by 109.2% with 16,190 units compared to September of the previous year, with imports from Thailand (+7,567%) and Japan (+1,000%) standing out.
