SightLine, Goodyear‘s new smart tyre brand, will initially target van and light transport fleets.
Goodyear Announces the Launch of SightLine Smart Tyres
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a leading connected mobility company, has unveiled the first smart tyre solution for light commercial vehicles, the Goodyear SightLine.
Goodyear SightLine will enable smooth, safe and reliable mobility for all vehicles, starting with light vans serving the field, in the construction sector and in last-mile delivery.
Throughout this year, the Goodyear SightLine will also be available to Goodyear original equipment customers and new fleet and mobility providers.
Initially available in North America and Europe, Goodyear SightLine uses sensors with cloud-based algorithms to communicate with fleet operators in real time.
Goodyear‘s patented predictive maintenance technology can help address many of the challenges faced by drivers and fleet managers today. These include predicting breakdowns, reducing downtime, and monitoring tyre pressure and wear for safer and more efficient mobility.
“Just as smart watches monitor vital signs, heart rate and oxygen levels, the Goodyear SightLine smart tyre solution monitors tyre health,” explained Chris Helsel, Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Chief Technology Officer. “Goodyear SightLine takes the mystery out of understanding tyres and provides a proactive view of mobility to communicate when tyres need maintenance or replacement.”
After billions of miles of testing with tyre solutions powered by Goodyear SightLine through pilot programs, and with its launch, Goodyear lays the foundation for a connected tyre future where tyres are smart. The company has set a goal to include tyre intelligence in all new products by 2027.
In the future, Goodyear SightLine technology will not only provide information about the tyre, but also about road conditions, enabling connected and autonomous mobility. Initial tests have shown that integrating Goodyear SightLine technology into a vehicle’s control system can help reduce stopping distance by 30%.
