As 2024 comes to an end, Hamburg-based startup CO2OPT proudly reflects on a year marked by technological advancements and significant contributions to the sustainability of thousands of vehicles
CO2OPT Celebrates a positive first year and looks forward
With new regulations in the German and European markets—such as rising costs per ton of CO₂ emissions and higher toll prices for trucks—logistics companies face increasing pressure to find innovative ways to reduce fuel consumption. CO2OPT offers a practical and effective solution: an AI-driven platform that provides fleet managers with tailored tire recommendations based on telematics and vehicle data. By equipping each truck with the optimal tyres, fleet operators can lower their carbon footprint and fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent.
Continuous Software Improvements
CO2OPT’s Benjamin Bartsch explained; “CO2OPT’s commitment to innovation is reflected in the constant improvement of its platform. Customer feedback has driven significant updates, including a redesigned interface that streamlines workflows and ensures critical data is readily accessible. With just one click, users can identify vehicles needing tire changes or see which trucks are not yet configured.”
Leveraging cutting-edge machine learning technology, CO2OPT has refined its predictive models to deliver unmatched accuracy in tyre performance forecasting. These advancements empower users to make smarter, data-driven decisions that extend tire lifespans, minimise downtime, and reduce costs, including a calculated predictive tread depth value for each tyre.
Integration capabilities have also expanded significantly. CO2OPT now supports a total of 14 telematics systems, including newly added compatibility with Scania and Volvo systems. This makes it easier than ever for companies to incorporate CO2OPT into their existing operations.
2025: A Year of Opportunity and Growth
Looking ahead, Bartsch says; “CO2OPT is gearing up for another impactful year. The expansion of CSRD reporting requirements in Germany will mandate more companies to report their sustainable practices. CO2OPT’s platform is ready to support businesses in meeting these requirements by confirming compliance and assisting in the creation of sustainability reports.
“Additionally, CO2OPT will introduce a groundbreaking feature in 2025: the ability to certify CO₂ emission savings in compliance with the DIN standard. This will enable companies to officially document CO₂ reductions achieved through fuel savings, the use of retread or regrooved tires, and other sustainable activities. Such certifications will not only showcase a company’s environmental impact but also provide a competitive edge by demonstrating alignment with corporate sustainability goals and regulatory demands.
“CO2OPT remains steadfast in its mission to combine innovation with sustainability, driving positive change in the logistics industry. The road ahead is one of continued progress and impactful solutions.”
