Mobility Sweden revealed its registrations for January 2024 with light trucks showing a relatively good outcome for the month with 2,690 newly registered vehicles, of which about 27 percent were electric. The high share of electric vehicles was mainly explained by improved delivery capacity from the order books. According to the announcement by Mobility Sweden, the support available for light electric trucks from February 13th is expected to have a positive effect during the upcoming year.
Analysing the Dynamics of Light Trucks, Heavy Trucks, and Buses in January 2024 in Sweden
For heavy trucks, January started weakly with 349 registered heavy vehicles compared to 455 last year, a decrease of about 23 percent. Buses increased by about 21 percent compared to January 2023, from 48 buses to 58 this year. Of the new buses for the month, four were electric.
“Heavy trucks had a strong year in 2023, and now a certain slowdown is expected due to the economy. Therefore, we welcome the government’s decision to strengthen the transition through the climate bonus, which now also includes gas vehicles. We also hope that the government will succeed in discussions with the EU regarding the tax exemption for biogas, which is an important segment,” says Sofia Linder, Chief Economist at Mobility Sweden.
