Michelin has more than doubled the number of sizes offered within its popular RoadBib agricultural tyre range, introducing five new dimensions.
Michelin Expands Size Offering for RoadBib Tyre Range
Launched in 2018, the RoadBib is the first tyre for 200+hp agricultural tractors specifically designed to provide high performance, longevity and traction on machines used intensively on roads.
The five new dimensions – 540/65 R30, 650/60 R34, 650/65 R34, 650/65 R42 and 710/75 R42 – take the number of sizes in the range up to nine and are available on both the replacement and original equipment markets.
Gordon Brookes, Michelin’s Customer Engineering Support Manager, says: “The Michelin RoadBib has been a huge success since it was introduced. The majority of farm and construction contractors typically spend more than 50 per cent of their time on the road – which is the equivalent to 80 per cent of their total distance travelled. These tractors are often coupled with heavy trailers, which only adds to the stress placed on the tyres.
“Our research and development team worked hard to find a solution that would solve these problems and design a tyre that would excel on tarmac and hard soil roads, whilst also performing well on soft soil in the field. The RoadBib was the answer, and with these new sizes we now have every base covered.”
Key to the Michelin RoadBib’s performance is its unique tread design, which comprises 52 tread blocks to maximise traction, coupled with a central spine. This allows 40 per cent of the tyre to remain in contact with the road surface – a 60 per cent increase versus a Michelin MachXBib lugged agricultural tyre.
The innovative hybrid tread design also improves driver comfort and helps to reduce fuel consumption while the tractor is travelling on the road. The durable casing improves longevity and retains excellent traction in wet and sticky soil conditions.
