The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) published a report on replacement tyre sales figures for the second quarter and the first half of 2024.
ETRMA Figures for H1 Revealed
The report shows 2,537 replacement tyre units for the truck and bus category in the second quarter of 2024, which is a decline of 1% compared to the second quarter of 2023. In the first half of 2023, the number stood at 5,583 compared to 5,301 in 2024, which is a 5% decline.
Agricultural replacement tyre units increased by 6% in the first quarter of 2024, with a total of 190 units, compared to 172 units in 2023. The first half of 2024 follows the increasing trend, with 402 replacement tyre units, a 3% increase compared to 392 units replaced in 2023.
Adam McCarthy, ETRMA’s Secretary General, said, “The second quarter was better than the first quarter, even if the inflationary and the geopolitical context led to a drop in demand and a reduction of inventory levels. Agricultural tyre sales were supported by rainy weather conditions.”
In the first half of 2024, Thailand (30.3%), China (22.3%) and Vietnam (21.9%) were dominating the tyre market, with the majority of tyre imports coming from these countries into Europe.
