The Smart City AU04+ is a premium all-season urban bus tyre designed for high mileage in stop-and-go city traffic. With a pattern design optimised for urban service, the tyre is engineered to provide enhanced durability, low rolling resistance and increased fuel efficiency. The optimised pattern design focuses on improved wear and resistance longevity, handling and driving stability performance, and increased fuel efficiency whilst ensuring minimal road noise for enhanced passenger comfort.
The Smart City AU06 is a versatile option that can be used on both electric and conventional buses. Its specially designed anti-slip technology enhances grip performance by incorporating tread knurling, designed to accommodate the high load torque of electric buses meaning less drag and more battery range. Additionally, the tyres aerodynamically optimised sidewall design improves overall fuel and energy efficiency by reducing air resistance. Its reinforced structure further enhances durability, ensuring longevity and reliability for demanding urban environments.
At the start of 2024, Hankook introduced the groundbreaking e-SMART City AU56, the first of its kind in the tyre industry, specifically developed for all-electric city buses. The tyre meets the specific requirements of electric buses through ultra-low rolling resistance, high load capacity and excellent grip. Made from 37% sustainable materials including reclaimed rubber, bio-based chemicals and natural resin, the tyre echoes Hankook’s sustainability efforts to reduce environmental impacts while maintaining high-quality products. Since its debut, the e-SMART City AU56 has achieved the highest accolade at Germany’s Red Dot Design Award and continues to receive widespread industry recognition.
The SmartTouring AL22 and SmartTouring DL22 complete Hankook’s premium coach tyre lineup, providing optimal performance for long haul transport. The SmartTouring AL22 is a high-technology coach tyre that can be used on all axle positions and as is customary with Hankook tyres. The tyre provides maximum ride and rolling comfort as the individual belt layers of the SmartTouring AL22 are structurally arranged in such a way that significantly less heat is developed in operation. This effect not only reduces rolling resistance, thus economising on fuel, it also considerably extends the service life of the tyre.
The SmartTouring DL22 is a drive axel coach tyre designed for long haul transport. Its advanced pattern design features four main grooves to ensure block stiffness and traction, a combination on square and interlocking blocks offering high mileage and an excellent riding and handling performance, and V-shaped 3D sipes in the centre alongside lateral grooves offer an outstanding winter performance. Both tyres feature low-noise technology for a smoother and quieter ride and are certified with the 3PMSF symbol and M+S marking.
