Continental announced it will focus its Commercial Speciality Tyres business on Material Handling, Earthmoving, and Port Operations and discontinue its Agricultural Tyres segment by the end of 2025.
Continental Commercial Speciality Tyres
According to Continental, this decision comes after a comprehensive business review. The agricultural tyre market has had intense disruptions in recent years, and Continental’s ambition is no longer compatible with the increasing commodization of the market. This decision mainly affects employees at Continental tyre plant in Lousado, Portugal, and the company will support each one through the transition while staying confident to offer most of the affected employees an alternative job within Continental.
“We are proud of the contributions we as a team have made to the agricultural industry and the trustful relationships we have built with our customers and partners,” says Paul Williams, Head of Continental Commercial Speciality Tyres. “Sharpening the focus of our Commercial Speciality Tires business will further leverage our resources towards our strengths in Material Handling, Earthmoving and Port Operations Tires.”
Continental will fulfill all contractual delivery obligations regarding the agricultural tyres until the end of 2025, namely with TractorMaster, Tractor70, Tractor85, CombineMaster and CompactMaster. The Multi-Purpose tyre lines will continue as part of Continental Commercial Speciality Tyres business.
