Continental continues its commitment as a main supplier of tyres for the official tourist vehicles and for the runners of the participating teams.
Continental Lands Extension With Tour de France
Before this year’s edition of the Tour de France kicks off in Copenhagen on July 1, 2022, Continental and the Tour have agreed to extend their partnership and sponsorship activities through 2027. Continental together with the Tour organization A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation), will continue to actively shape the world’s biggest and most important cycling race for years to come, in turn contributing towards a safe and sustainable future for the Tour.
In addition, the new ContiRe.Tex recycling technology is already being used in this year’s edition. Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, is proud to be able to continue benefiting from the know-how of the Continental experts in tyre technology and sustainability for another five years. The cooperation of Continental from Hanover as a sponsor and safety partner with the Tour de France began at the end of 2017. Continental has been one of the five main partners since 2019. In addition to premium tyre performance for cycling professionals and their support riders, sustainable mobility also plays an important role for Continental.
By 2030, the company aims to become the most advanced tyre manufacturer in the area of sustainability, and is also carrying these ambitions into its sponsorship partnership with the Tour de France. “One of the objectives of this collaboration is to continue betting on greater sustainability. Continental is equipping the official cars on this year’s tour with tyres based on the new ContiRe.Tex technology. Each of these tyre sets incorporates recycled polyester from plastic bottles and reprocessed to the same high safety standards and absolutely reliable tyre performance.
In addition, Continental will once again be the tyre partner for six of the participating professional cycling teams this year. Riders from Ineos Grenadiers, Groupama-FDJ, Bahrain-Victorious, Movistar Team, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux and Team Arkéa-Samsic will battle for their place on the podium on GP5000 tyres that have been specially handcrafted. The 109th edition of the Tour de France begins on July 1 in the cycling capital of Europe, Copenhagen, and, after some 3,335 kilometers and 21 stages, will finish on the magnificent Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
