Saturday, 8 August, saw the transmission on Discovery Channel of the “Diesel Brothers: Monster Jam Breaking World Records”. A unique event of its kind which saw the Monster Trucks beat numerous records.
Six Monster records were set and validated by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, in Florida (US): Adam Anderson, with his Monster Truck Megalodon, managed to jump 8 cars lined up in a row, while Krysten Anderson – the first and only female driver of Grave Digger – won the title for the highest jump from the ramp reaching a height of 33.8 feet – more than 10 meters.
Bryce Kenny achieved the high speed record of 100.31mph – 161,433 km/h on the Great Clips Mohawk Warrior and Bari Musawwir managed, with Zombie™, to execute the most consecutive Donuts, 58 in total and 44 in just one minute. And finally Tom Meents – 12-time Monster Jam World Final champion – who was determined to have for himself the record of the longest nose wheelie with Max-D™: he achieved 209 feet – over 63 meters.
These are impressive results for enormous vehicles weighing almost 5.5 tons. These Monster Trucks which take part in the Monster Jam shows around the world are fitted with BKT tyres, which have been specifically designed for high performance and complete safety.
BKT MONSTER JAM TIRE is an “extreme” 66-inch tyre which offers excellent stability – even after landing from a height of 14 meters – thanks to a particular shoulder which makes it possible to bounce at the moment of impact and to quickly restabilise.
It has a hard and rigid flank to avoid cuts and breaks and an extra-solid structure to resist and overcome these truly unique conditions. Whether it is a high jump, a donut or a nose wheelie.
“At BKT we work constantly to improve the product and we have even reduced the weight to allow the Monster Trucks even more spectacular performance. It needs balance and a resistant structure to achieve exceptional performance such as this. And each of these records ‘stresses’ the tyre in a different way, each detail must therefore be perfect” commented Dilip Vaidya, President and Director of Technology at BKT, who was the brains behind the tyre from the start.
BKT has been the partner of Monster Jam since 2014 thanks to an agreement with Feld Motor Sports – organizer of the acrobatic display. A strategic and winning choice which has given the Indian multinational the chance to demonstrate in the field all its experience in developing Off-Highway tyres, even for the most difficult and unexpected applications, as well as to consolidate the fame of the brand worldwide.
