ATIRE’s high-performance solid tyres are now certified carbon-neutral, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainability while maintaining top-tier performance and durability.

ATIRE Launches World’s First Carbon-Neutral Industrial Tyre Range

ATIRE, a fast-growing leader in industrial tyres, proudly announces that its premium range of solid tyres is now certified carbon-neutral, with a carbon-neutral certification issued by Control Union, a globally recognized certifying body. This marks a historic achievement in the tyre industry, as ATIRE becomes the first company in the world to launch a carbon-neutral solid tyre range.

In November last year, the Sri Lanka Climate Fund (SLCF) certified ATIRE as a carbon-neutral organization, positioning it as the pioneer in net-zero emission solid tyre manufacturing. The company has now reached a new milestone by launching the world’s first product-level certified carbon-neutral solid tyre range.

The certification extends across a variety of ATIRE’s products, including:

  • RunnerSolid™, RockSolid™, RunnerBand™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral certified resilient, press-on forklift tyres.
  • TeleSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral telehandler tyre.
  • SkidSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral skid-steer tyre.
  • RunnerLift™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral scissor lift and aerial work platform (AWP) tyre.
  • TrailerSolid™ – The world’s first carbon-neutral solid tyre for port applications.

ATIRE’s non-marking tyre versions have also earned the distinction of being the world’s first carbon-neutral non-marking solid tyres.

Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

Over the past several years, ATIRE has transformed its manufacturing processes, meticulously measuring and reducing emissions across the company. This transformation includes several sustainability initiatives:

  • Less Wear, Less Waste: ATIRE reduces landfill waste by producing longer-lasting tyres, keeping tyres in use longer and lowering environmental impact.
  • Maximizing Solar: 85% of ATIRE’s facility roofs are covered in solar panels, providing renewable energy for its operations.
  • Plant Fuel over Fossil Fuel: ATIRE uses 100% bio-mass-generated steam, eliminating the use of fossil fuels in steam generation and significantly reducing emissions.
  • Emerging Technologies: Advanced nanotechnology reduces energy consumption during the tyre curing process by over 15%, optimizing efficiency.
  • Greener Commute: 9 in 10 employees use ATIRE’s free shuttle service, reducing commute-related emissions.
  • Reuse, Reduce, Recycle: ATIRE recycles more than 80% of its waste, reprocessing factory and compound waste to minimize environmental impact.

Ajith Dharmasiri, General Manager of ATIRE, stated, “We have nurtured a culture of commitment to fighting climate change at every level of our organization, from factory workers to executive leadership. Everyone is aligned with our mission.”

ATIRE’s commitment to carbon management is supported by adherence to ISO Climate Management standards, ensuring the company’s carbon-neutral claims are credible, transparent, and science-based. This approach promotes comprehensive GHG accounting, life cycle strategies, and ongoing emissions reductions as the company grows.

A Climate-Conscious Future for Industrial Tyres

ATIRE’s carbon-neutral certification sets new industry standards and highlights its commitment to sustainability. The company’s range of carbon-neutral industrial tyres reflects its ongoing innovation in tyre technology, focusing on both performance and environmental responsibility.
